It's A Girl Thing Comic Con

At this year’s Mumbai Comic Con, amidst the cosplay and comic books, It’s A Girl Thing (IAGT) brought something powerful — a celebration of women, sisterhood, and dreams. Held on April 12–13, 2025, at the Jio World Convention Centre, the IAGT created a warm and inspiring space for women to share stories, spark conversations, and be their authentic selves.

The event featured exciting panels with creators, artists, gamers, nutritionists, and entrepreneurs. Some of the amazing women who took the stage included:

  • Rytasha Rathore, Chrisann Pereira, Priyam Saha, and Maalavika Manoj (Mali)
  • Gamers Shakshi Shetty and Riya Verma
  • Content creators like Sameeksha Takke, Aashi Sahni, and Kinnari Jain
  • Girlboss Aakanksha Gupta, Co-founder of The Other Circle
  • Nutritionist Neha Ranglani and food creator Vidhi Doshi (@ramenhairedgirl)

The themes were bold — challenging stereotypes, celebrating passion, and supporting each other’s journeys. From women in gaming and content creation to nutrition and music, the stories shared were honest, empowering, and full of heart.

One highlight was the panel for the web series Waack Girls by Sooni Taraporevala. When asked who a Waack Girl is, she said, “Someone who doesn’t take s*** from anyone.” That set the tone for the whole weekend — fierce and fearless.

The salon also had fun, interactive zones like ‘Write a Letter to Your Future Self,’ ‘Spin the Wheel,’ a doodle wall, and the ‘Heroine Mirror’ — where every girl could feel like the lead character of her own story.

In short, IAGT at Comic Con 2025 was a celebration of what it means to be a woman today — strong, soft, real, and ready to take on the world.

Reflecting on the two power-packed days at IAGT, Emma Louise Fung said, “The 2025 edition marked our fifth time to India and our first time at Comic Con, and it was a wonderfully suitable way to change our content up and bring a dedicated female voice and power into Comic Con in Mumbai. The IAGT zone was dancing, chatting, chilling and playing games under the umbrella of Main Heroine Hoon and vibing with a positive, diverse and hopeful energy.  Artists, creators, and girl-bosses came together to spark conversations that challenged, inspired, and created a roadmap to create an equitable environment for women to thrive. It was A LOT of fun.”
