Mumbai took a stride towards a greener future with the Mindspace REIT EcoRun, an exciting blend of marathon energy and sustainability. Organized by Mindspace Business Parks REIT in association with Mirchi, the event saw over 3,500 runners race towards their finish lines, starting and ending at Mindspace Business Park, Airoli East. More than just a marathon, the event was a movement that championed environmental responsibility through eco-friendly initiatives such as organic t-shirts, plantable bibs, biodegradable cutlery, and reduced waste.

Ramesh Nair, CEO, Mindspace Business Parks REIT said, "The Mindspace REIT EcoRun wasn’t just about crossing the finish line, it was about taking a step toward a healthier planet. Every runner made an impact, proving that when we run together, we create change together. It was inspiring to see Mumbai come together for both health and the environment."

The 21K run was flagged off by Ramesh Nair, CEO of Mindspace Business Parks REIT, and Rajan MG, Head – Asset & Facilities Management, while the 10K run was launched by Shivaji Nagare, Executive Vice President - Projects, and Ravichandra Vutukuru, Senior Vice President - Purchase & Contracts. The 5K run saw enthusiastic participation as it was flagged off by actress Shriya Pilgaonkar, Kavindra Mishra, CEO & Managing Director of Shoppers Stop, and Ramesh Nair. Throughout the event, RJ Prerna from Radio Mirchi kept the energy high and the crowd engaged.

The EcoRun welcomed participants of all levels, with 21km and 10km races for those aged 18 and above, and a 5km category for runners aged 8 and older. Fitness enthusiasts, corporate teams, trained athletes, and senior citizens all came together, proving that determination knows no age. Among the inspiring runners was Ajay Kumar, a partially blind Paralympic athlete who consistently completes 21km in under two hours. Beyond his athletic achievements, he works with an NGO to help place disabled individuals in corporate jobs, malls, and other sectors in Mumbai. Another remarkable participant was Priya, a certified K11 fitness trainer, who has been empowering women through weight training, yoga, and nutrition coaching while actively supporting NGOs for cancer awareness, blindness, and wheelchair accessibility.

The event was a testament to eco-innovation, with participants donning organic cotton t-shirts and plantable bibs. Fifteen refill stations supplied 10,000 liters of water, eliminating single-use plastics and reducing waste by 90%. Waste management was handled by Skrap Waste Management Solutions, ensuring 95% of collected waste was recycled. Additionally, runners planted saplings at designated green stations, transforming their commitment into action.

With 14 sponsors and a strong focus on sustainability, the Mindspace REIT EcoRun set a new benchmark for eco-friendly marathons. By integrating green practices into a high-energy event, it demonstrated that a race can be more than just a competition—it can be a step towards a better planet.
