In the world of luxury weddings, where every detail is curated to perfection, Maggi Kewlani has made a mark as a visionary leader. As the COO of Vivaah Celebrations, she has seamlessly blended creativity, precision, and an international perspective to redefine wedding experiences. But her journey to the top wasn’t just about glamour; it was about resilience, innovation, and a relentless drive to break stereotypes.
In a recent interview with EVENTFQS Media, Maggi shared insights into her journey, challenges, and the evolving landscape of luxury weddings.

From Dream to COO: What inspired you to step into the world of luxury wedding planning at such a young age, and how did you carve your path to becoming the COO of Vivaah Celebrations?
Wedding planning isn’t just about logistics and timelines; it’s about storytelling, about creating once-in-a-lifetime experiences that people cherish forever. I’ve always been drawn to the magic of celebrations, but I wanted to go beyond just passion. That’s why I pursued International Events Management at Regent’s University London to build a strong foundation in an industry where formal education isn’t always the norm.
But theory only takes you so far. My journey took me across Europe—Paris, Madrid, Poland, and London—where I immersed myself in the events industry, learning the nuances of different cultures, clientele, and expectations. When I moved to Dubai, I knew I wanted to be part of something extraordinary. That’s when I joined Vivaah Celebrations, a brand already synonymous with luxury. But stepping into a leadership role wasn’t instant. I had to prove my vision, my ability to execute under pressure, and my commitment to making every wedding extraordinary.

Age vs. Experience: Many associate leadership with years of experience. How did you overcome scepticism and prove that success isn’t about age but about vision and execution?
The wedding industry is built on relationships and trust, and being young in a leadership role often means people second-guess you. I didn’t let that intimidate me. Instead, I let my work speak for itself.
Having worked across multiple countries, I brought an international perspective to the table, one that helped me introduce new ideas and freshly elevate guest experiences. I’ve always believed that execution is the biggest equalizer. No matter your age, if you can deliver beyond expectations, build relationships, and adapt to challenges effortlessly, success follows.
Being part of Vivaah Celebrations, under the leadership of Rahul Kumar, was another crucial factor. He’s someone I’ve learned immensely from, and even today, I continue to evolve.

Leading in a Competitive Industry
Luxury Weddings & Innovation: Vivaah Celebrations is known for creating extraordinary wedding experiences. What’s your secret to staying ahead in such a competitive and ever-evolving industry?
Luxury is about personalization. No two weddings should feel the same. At Vivaah Celebrations, we don’t just plan weddings—we curate immersive experiences that reflect the couple’s story, their culture, and their aspirations.
My global experience allows me to bring a fusion of international trends while respecting traditions. Whether it’s introducing avant-garde décor elements from Europe or seamlessly integrating local cultural influences, innovation is all about anticipating what clients want before they even ask for it.
We also embrace technology—digital planning tools, immersive guest experiences, and creative content that brings weddings to life long before the big day. Luxury is no longer just about grandeur; it’s about personalization, exclusivity, and making people feel something unique.

Handling High-Profile Clients: How do you balance creativity with client expectations, especially when working with ultra-luxury and high-profile weddings?
Luxury clients know what they want, but they also look to us for what they don’t even realize they need. Our approach at Vivaah Celebrations is to deeply understand their vision, their lifestyle, and their personality, and then bring ideas that elevate that vision beyond their expectations.
Balancing creativity and expectations comes down to trust and confidence. Clients need to know that they’re in the hands of a team that understands both aesthetics and logistics. It’s not just about extravagant setups; it’s about ensuring every guest feels effortlessly taken care of, every transition is seamless, and every detail is intentionally crafted.

The Power of Teamwork: How do you cultivate a strong team culture, ensuring that every wedding is executed with perfection?
We, at Vivaah Celebrations, believe in empowering the team when people feel valued and heard; they give their best. Wedding planning is high-stress, but we thrive under pressure because everyone knows they have a role that matters.
Working closely with our Director, Rahul Kumar, who is also actively involved in every wedding celebration we plan, I’ve learned the importance of leading with vision while also giving space for collaboration. Every person brings something valuable to the table, and the best results happen when creativity and precision go hand in hand.

Empowerment & Leadership
Breaking Stereotypes: As a woman in a leadership position in the luxury events space, have you faced any biases, and how have you navigated them?
Absolutely. This industry often assumes experience equals authority, and as a young woman, I had to work twice as hard to be taken seriously. Instead of fighting that narrative, I changed it by delivering, by building relationships, and by proving that leadership is about capability, not age or gender.
The best way to challenge bias is through results. Today, when clients trust me with their weddings, it’s not only because of my title; it’s because they know I’ll make their vision a reality.

The Role of Influence: You wear multiple hats like COO, influencer, and content creator. How do you balance personal branding with your executive role?
Influence isn’t about visibility; it’s about value. Whether it’s helping a bride-to-be make an informed decision or showcasing the artistry behind wedding planning, I see my platform as a way to inspire, educate, and elevate the industry.
Both roles fuel each other while drawing a clear line in the middle. My work in luxury weddings allows me to create meaningful content, showcasing the artistry, precision, and emotions that go into planning grand celebrations. At the same time, my personal brand gives me a platform to share insights and build trust with a wider audience on travel, events, and luxury lifestyles.
Having done weddings in 23 countries around the world with Vivaah Celebrations, work constantly takes us to breathtaking locations. While I love capturing and sharing my aesthetic travel content on my personal page, I ensure that our destination weddings and grand celebrations are actively showcased on Vivaah Celebrations’ platforms. This way, I keep my personal and professional worlds distinct, ensuring that my personal brand remains a creative space while my work as a wedding planner stays dedicated to crafting unforgettable luxury experiences.

The Future of Maggi Kewlani: What’s next for you? Are there any new ventures or dreams you’re excited to bring to life?
I’m always evolving. Luxury weddings will always be my passion, but I’m also exploring new creative avenues whether it’s expanding into different event formats or curating experiences beyond weddings while representing Vivaah Celebrations.
At my core, I’ll always be someone who creates, innovates, and elevates experiences, and I can’t wait for what’s next.
