Global Film Tourism Conclave PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry Ministry of Tourism Government of India

At the 7th Global Film Tourism Conclave, held by the PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PHDCCI) in collaboration with the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India, Chief Guest Prithul Kumar, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, highlighted how film tourism can significantly benefit India's economy. He stated that every dollar spent by international production houses in India generates six times the returns, showcasing the economic power of the film industry.

The Conclave, themed "Reel to Real: Redefining Destinations," focused on how films, destination branding, and government incentives can fuel global tourism growth. The event saw participation from key figures in the tourism and film industries, including Anil Parashar, Chair of the Tourism Committee at PHDCCI, and Mahesh Singhi, Chair of the Maharashtra Chapter.

Keynote speaker Sabbas Joseph, Co-Founder of Wizcraft Group, shared insights on how the International Indian Film Academy Awards (IIFA) has driven tourism in its host cities. The upcoming IIFA 2025 in Jaipur is expected to further boost tourism, proving the economic benefits of film-based tourism.

Shibasish Sarkar, President of the Producers Guild of India, discussed the evolution of film tourism, emphasizing technological advancements and changing audience dynamics that have shaped the industry. He also outlined how India can emerge as a leader in this sector.

Sessions during the event explored how India's 30% incentive for foreign film productions has increased international shoots by 25% over two years. Experts also discussed government policies, tax rebates, and the state-level support that is making India an attractive destination for filmmakers.

Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat showcased their potential as prime filming locations. Madhya Pradesh, with its rich cultural heritage and scenic beauty, and Gujarat, with its stunning landscapes and robust infrastructure, are increasingly drawing filmmakers to their regions.

The conclave also examined the financial impact of film tourism. Experts discussed how India can develop revenue models similar to successful global film tourism initiatives, such as the UK's Harry Potter franchise and Ireland's Game of Thrones tourism.

PHDCCI reaffirmed its commitment to promoting India as a premier destination for film productions, encouraging stakeholders to harness the economic and cultural opportunities that film tourism offers.
