India International Music Week 2025

The India International Music Week (IIMW) 2025 commenced with a powerful opening, bringing together music professionals, export offices, and artists from more than 30 countries to Goa, India, positioning the country at the center of the global music industry.

The event was inaugurated with an insightful keynote address by Mugdha Sinha, Director General of Tourism, India, where she emphasized the growing role of music in boosting India’s economy and tourism industry. Sinha highlighted how the concert economy is rapidly expanding in India, citing the massive economic impact of Coldplay’s recent concerts in the country. She stated that such large-scale music events are not just entertainment but significant economic drivers, contributing to tourism, hospitality, and local businesses.

She also pointed out that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has acknowledged the power of music in fostering economic growth, advocating for greater government focus on the music industry to strengthen India’s cultural and economic landscape. This aligns with India’s vision of leveraging music as a key sector for international collaborations and tourism development.

The conference was also attended by the Tourism Minister of Goa, Shri Rohan Khaunte, who welcomed the global music community to Goa, a state that has long been synonymous with music and cultural exchange. In his address, he emphasized Goa’s role as a breeding ground for India’s music industry, having pioneered multiple genres and hosted some of the country’s most iconic festivals.

Shri Khaunte reaffirmed the Goa Government’s commitment to revitalizing the state as a premier destination for music tourism and a home for creative professionals and enterprises. He invoked the philosophy of “Atithi Devo Bhava” (Guest is God), highlighting Goa’s deep-rooted tradition of hospitality and its dedication to cultural celebration.

IIMW is encouraged by the resonance of the Tourism Ministry with the objective of its endeavour—to establish India as a global music hub by fostering international collaborations, cultural exchanges, and economic growth through music. This shared vision reinforces Goa’s position as a destination that not only hosts world-class music events but actively invests in simplified licensing, infrastructure development, and sustainable tourism policies to support the creative industries.

IIMW 2025 stands as a true global showcase of talent, with an artist lineup that is equally Indian and international. The festival’s curation ensures a diverse musical experience, featuring emerging artists from India and around the world.

India International Music Week 2025 serves as a global hub for music industry professionals and artists, unlocking new opportunities for cross-border collaborations.
