As a trendsetter in the decor industry, what emerging design elements do you foresee making a big impact in the coming year?
As a wedding designer, I see a shift towards designs that embrace sustainability and immersive storytelling. Couples are seeking more personal, meaningful experiences, and this is reflected in décor. I foresee a rise in organic, eco-friendly materials like dried florals, natural fabrics, and upcycled elements making a big impact. Blending these with bold, rich color palettes and textures that evoke emotion will set the stage for deeply curated celebrations. Another trend is multi-sensory experiences—incorporating fragrance, sound, and even interactive installations, making décor not just visually stunning but an experience that engages all senses.
How do you see the balance between timeless, classic designs and the demand for modern, bold decor evolving in upcoming events?
The balance between timeless, classic designs and modern, bold décor is evolving into a beautiful fusion where both can coexist seamlessly. Clients are increasingly drawn to the elegance and sophistication of classic elements—like intricate florals, heritage-inspired props, and traditional motifs—while also craving the vibrancy and uniqueness of contemporary designs. I see this balance playing out in layered décor, where clean, modern lines meet vintage details, or bold color palettes complement more subdued, classic tones. It’s about finding harmony, where timeless elegance provides the foundation, and modern creativity adds a fresh, bold twist to reflect the couple's personality.
Color palettes play a huge role in setting the tone of an event/wedding. What color trends do you predict will dominate decor in the near future?
Color trends are leaning towards more personalized, expressive palettes that move beyond the traditional. The idea of color blocking is going to see a new high. I predict we’ll see a rise in rich, earthy tones—think terracotta, rust, olive, and deep emerald—paired with soft neutrals like blush, beige, and ivory to create a warm, organic feel. Bold jewel tones like sapphire, amethyst, and ruby will continue to dominate for those seeking drama, while pastels will get a modern twist with unexpected combinations, such as dusty lavender with mustard or peach with mint. Metallic accents, especially in copper and brass, will add a touch of sophistication, making each palette feel both fresh and timeless.
Minimalism and maximalism have both been popular in recent years. What do you think the balance will be between these contrasting styles in future decor trends?
I believe the future of décor will embrace a 'curated maximalism' where both minimalism and maximalism find a harmonious balance. Minimalism will continue to influence the use of clean lines, open spaces, and a focus on quality over quantity, ensuring that every design choice has intention. However, maximalism will add layers of personality and richness through statement pieces—bold florals, striking colors, or intricate details. The key trend will be blending the two: creating spaces that feel open and airy, yet are punctuated by thoughtful, opulent touches. It’s about embracing the 'less is more' philosophy while still making room for moments of visual delight.
Cultural influences often play a major role in decor trends. Are there any specific cultural or regional design elements you think will be in the spotlight for upcoming events?
Cultural influences are becoming a driving force in décor, with couples wanting to reflect their heritage in fresh and meaningful ways. I see a growing spotlight on regional craftsmanship and artisanal details, such as intricate handwoven textiles, block prints, and traditional pottery. Elements like Indian Tagad jaal and Urli bowls filled with flowers are blending seamlessly into contemporary settings. Global influences are also surfacing, with African patterns, Japanese minimalism, and Mediterranean tile designs making their mark. The key trend will be fusing these cultural elements with modern aesthetics, creating décor that tells a story rooted in tradition but designed for today’s celebrations.
