The Ministry of Food Processing Industries proudly announces the launch of the official website and mobile application for World Food India 2024. The initiative was inaugurated by Union Minister of Food Processing Industries, Chirag Paswan, and Union Minister of State for Food Processing Industries and Railways, Ravneet Singh, marking a significant milestone in the lead-up to the third edition of this premier event.

World Food India is the nation’s largest food event, designed to foster collaboration and partnerships among global and Indian food sector stakeholders. The previous edition, World Food India 2023, was a resounding success with participation from 1,208 exhibitors, 715 international buyers from 90 countries, 24 states, and 75,000 attendees. The event featured over 16,000 B2B/B2G meetings, roundtable discussions, 47 thematic sessions, MoU signings, exhibitions, and a startup grand challenge.

The newly launched website and mobile application will serve as comprehensive platforms for participants to access information, register for events, and stay updated on all activities leading up to and during World Food India 2024.

During his keynote address, Chirag Paswan underscored the pivotal role of the food processing sector in addressing agricultural wastage, promoting value addition, ensuring food security, and bolstering the supply chain from farm to fork. Emphasizing the Government of India's commitment to the comprehensive development of the value chain in the food and allied sectors, Paswan highlighted the focus on achieving the goals of Atma Nirbhar (self-reliant) and Viksit Bharat (developed India).

Paswan detailed the Ministry’s flagship schemes, including the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Sampada Yojana (PMKSY), Production Linked Incentive Scheme (PLIS), and Pradhan Mantri Formalisation of Micro Food Processing Enterprises (PMFME), which are instrumental in supporting the sector’s growth. He also announced the 2nd edition of the Startup Grand Challenge, in collaboration with Startup India, aimed at boosting the growing startup ecosystem and fostering innovation within the sector.

In his special address, Ravneet Singh emphasized the transformative impact of advancements in food-processing technologies. He highlighted how these advancements could turn India's agricultural wealth into a formidable economic force. Singh praised the government's proactive efforts in promoting investments through various reforms and leveraging India's expansive market and dynamic young workforce.

Singh also spoke about the significance of the upcoming World Food India 2024, scheduled from 19th to 22nd September 2024. He pointed out that the event would bring together a diverse array of stakeholders, including manufacturers, producers, investors, policymakers, and global organizations, fostering collaboration, exploring opportunities, and contributing to the sector's overall development. He called on everyone to support the Ministry’s initiatives to maintain the growth momentum, emphasizing that collective action and shared vision would drive substantial advancements and strengthen India’s standing in the global food ecosystem.

Anita Praveen, Secretary, Ministry of Food Processing Industries, extended her gratitude for the overwhelming participation in World Food India 2023. She invited senior government dignitaries, global investors, business leaders, and stakeholders such as food processors, equipment manufacturers, logistics and cold chain players, technology providers, startups, and food retailers to join the four-day flagship event of 2024. She highlighted that World Food India 2024 will continue to be an industry-driven inclusive event, showcasing India’s capabilities in the food processing and allied sectors on a global platform.
