Q. How do you manage last-minute changes or unexpected situations during an event?
The popular saying "Keep calm and do kaam". Lots of people go crazy when last minute changes occur. Being mentally prepared that such situations are common and being calm and focused on what’s to be done in that very moment is the need of the hour. Have a lot of interactive activities ready they come in handy any time the client says there's a delay or the next artist isn’t ready yet, get in the audience and conduct a fun activity.
Q. You have a diverse portfolio of hosting both corporate and wedding events. How do you manage to seamlessly switch between the two and cater to different audience expectations?
That's very true. The entire year is very colorful for me! There's the very exciting wedding season where I'm hosting big fat destination weddings with multiple events in a day and the very next day I'm facing an audience of 2000 people on a magnificent stage for a discerning corporate show... There's a world of difference between both of them. But I must say being versatile is one of my strong suits. One day I'm motivating employees with quotes by Aristotle & Mahatma Gandhi and the very next day I could be saying romantic shayaris at a wedding event. However, it all comes with years of experience and practice. Also doing a good amount of homework is the key.
Q. You've had the opportunity to host events with celebrities. Can you tell us about your experiences co-hosting with celebrities and how you ensure a harmonious and engaging on-stage dynamic?
Be it a Bollywood diva or a spiritual guru they are all the who's who of the world and have a massive fan following. When there's a public figure on stage & the entire audience is thrilled to get a picture with them, sometimes even rushing up the stage. Here as the sole person handling the stage it's vital to keep your calm and not get overwhelmed. The audience needs to be treated with politeness as well as a little bit of rigidity when you request them not to crowd up the stage or push around for a selfie. It's very challenging & not always a piece of cake as it seems to be. Though it's amazing meeting some of my favorites and getting an opportunity to speak to them, share the stage with them & it's the best when someone like Hrithik Roshan hugs you.
Q. Hosting international events can present unique challenges. Can you share some of your experiences and how you adjust your hosting style?
I have hosted a plethora of events in over 40+ countries and truly feel like a world citizen, this has been an immensely enriching experience. Though long travel hours, overnight flights with a time crunch to freshen up and be on stage with full energy are some testing times, most event professionals would also relate to. But once I'm on stage, the lights, the atmosphere & the audience cheering, that's better than even an espresso shot.
Q. Hosting events year-round can be demanding. How do you maintain your energy levels and enthusiasm consistently, especially during busy seasons?
Traveling & being sleep deprived at times is exhausting but most of us in the industry by now have excelled at the art of napping in the flight, in cars, even the bus taking us from the airport to the flight… haha! Being mindful of eating healthy & taking every opportunity to be well rested is the key to sustaining in the busy season. I am a very organized person so it's easy for me to deal with incessant packing, unpacking preps, last minute changes etc. When everything in life is systematically arranged life flows also I love what I do & not to be bragging but I'm really good at it. I don't ever need a break.
Q. In the dynamic field of event hosting, how do you stay updated on trends and continuously enhance your skills to meet the evolving expectations of clients and audiences?
The love of it is all that's needed, that passion makes one look at everything as your show content. Be it films, social media or even a get-together with your friends, content for your next event is everywhere! My mind runs like 'oh this activity can be in my next event. that line can be added to my event script. I'm at it all the time.
