Fox Corp, Walt Disney's ESPN and Warner Bros Discovery have announced that they will launch a sports streaming platform targeted at younger audiences who don't prefer television.

The media companies will form a joint venture to create a new service from their broad portfolio of professional and collegiate sports rights, which span the National Football League, the National Basketball Association, Major League Baseball, FIFA World Cup and college competitions.

The service is yet to be named and would reportedly include TV content from channels like ESPN, FS1 and TNT apart from the sports content. The platform will be available as part of a Disney+, Hulu or Max streaming bundle.

The platform will host tournaments such as the National Football League, the National Basketball Association, Major League Baseball, FIFA World Cup and other college leagues.

Bob Iger, CEO, Disney said, "This means the full suite of ESPN channels will be available to consumers alongside the sports programming of other leaders.”

David Zaslav, CEO, Warner Bros Discovery said, "This new sports service exemplifies our ability as an industry to drive innovation and provide consumers with more choice, enjoyment and value.”

"We believe the service will provide passionate fans outside of the traditional bundle an array of amazing sports content all in one place," said Fox Chief Executive Lachlan Murdoch.
