The Hotel And Restaurant Association (Western India) – HRAWI organized a seminar titled 'Life, Property, and Environment Safety for the Hospitality Industry' on October 16, 2023, at Resort Marinha Dourada in Arpora, North Goa.
The seminar aimed to comprehensively address safety concerns, including environmental aspects, within the hospitality industry, encompassing hotels and restaurants. The event was designed to provide valuable insights and educate participants on the essential safety measures required within hospitality establishments to ensure the well-being of all stakeholders. Furthermore, it reflected HRAWI's commitment to advancing tourism, fostering sustainable practices, and exploring avenues for promoting eco-friendly initiatives within the industry.
The seminar featured a distinguished lineup of speakers, with Ishrat Alam, Assistant Director, India Tourism, Goa Ministry of Tourism, gracing the occasion as the Chief Guest. Joining him was Menino Proenca, Director of Resort Marinha Dourada, as the Guest of Honor. Ashok Menon, Former Director of Goa State Fire & Emergency Services, delivered the keynote address, and Hemant Khadse, CEO of East Corp Group, served as the Technical Speaker.
A notable highlight of the seminar was the panel discussion titled 'Luxury to Responsibility: Hospitality's Journey Towards Safety and Sustainability.' The panel featured industry experts, including Ashok Joshi, Director of Joshi Engineering Consultancy and Chairman of the Indian Plumbing Association, Goa Chapter; Devendra Arolkar, Director & Board Member of Mohit Minerals Ltd. & Project Director of Jubilant Hospitality; Mandar Zaware, VP of Design & Project Management at Marriott International; and Bharat Kamat, Chairman of IGBC, Goa, and Partner at Kamat Infra Tech.
The seminar proved to be an enlightening experience, shedding light on the evolving landscape of safety and sustainability within the hospitality sector. It aimed to empower participants with essential knowledge to create secure and sustainable environments within their establishments. Importantly, this initiative aligned with the Mission LiFE (Lifestyle for Environment) pledge, which aimed to bring about positive changes in daily life to protect the environment while continually motivating family, friends, and others about the importance of environmentally friendly practices. Mission LiFE was an India-led global movement dedicated to preserving the environment, promoting sustainable living, and addressing climate change.
