In an exclusive interview with EVENTFAQS Media, Bala Nicholas, Director, Dreams Events and Services, share his achievements, challenges encountered and valuable lessons he has learned from his experiences in the event industry.
Looking back on the past 10 years, what would you say have been the most significant achievements for Dreams Events and services, and how has it shaped the company’s vision for the future?
Dreams has grown from a 3-member team to a 30 plus team today and we have had significant projects and experiences that have helped us shape our current existence. These are few significant events that gained widespread attention and recognition that involved innovative event design, flawless logistical coordination, exceptional attendee experiences, and effective use of technology for engagement.
An event in Maldives during the toughest covid wave, for a duration of 7 days with 7 different themes for each day. An international event in Thailand, Phuket, and Bangkok for 600 pax, with technically challenging 12x100 ft wall that received lot of appreciation from client. A massive virtual streaming event for 1.5 lakh people with celebrities like Bipasha Basu, Milind soman and more during the lockdown time. The Cordelia cruise event sailing from Mumbai to Lakshadweep and back for a summit inside the cruise for 1500 pax got us evolved in so many ways that we had dreamt of. The product launch event in 101 cities happening parallelly across India including metros, tier1 ,tier2, tier3 in a span of 8 days.
The past 10 years have likely presented both opportunities and challenges. Can you discuss a particular instance when Dreams events and services faced a significant obstacle and how the company overcame it, demonstrating resilience and determination?
As the country was facing the impact of covid, we lost significant projects during the first lockdown. But we never sat with our hands tied. We used the opportunity to explore different options of conducting events, learnt new technologies, and equipped our staff to the challenges of the Virtual world. We are proud to say that we executed annual general body meetings of 100 plus cooperative and urban banks.
In the events and services industry, trends and preferences are constantly evolving. How have Dreams Events and Services managed to stay innovative and relevant over the past decade, and what strategies do you have in place to continue adapting in the years to come?
As already mentioned, we have come a long way from conducting conventional events to virtual events to hybrid events. We have always been on the edge to learn, equip ourselves in latest technological advancements, latest trends, new creative ideas, venues, locations, artists, and celebrities. The strategy is to be always on the move, stay updated and upskilled.
As the CEO of Dreams Events and services, what have been the most valuable lessons you have learned from your experiences in the events industry and how do you plan to apply those lessons to further grow and expand the company in the future?
Adaptability is Key. Event management industry is highly susceptible to changes in technology, trends, and external factors. As a CEO, I have felt the importance of being adaptable and quick to respond to changes. Flexibility in planning and execution is crucial to delivering successful events. Also Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients is a fundamental aspect of the event management business. The need for open communication, understanding client needs, and exceeding expectations are vital for long-term success.
Building a skilled and dedicated team and fostering a collaborative environment can lead to better creativity, problem-solving, and overall success in event execution. Events can be unpredictable, and challenges are bound to arise. I have learned the importance of having effective crisis management plans in place to handle unexpected situations with composure and professionalism. Constructive feedback from clients and participants is a valuable resource for growth. We at Dreams, actively seek feedback to continuously improve their services and enhance customer satisfaction.
