The National Musical Arts Cultural Centre (NMACC) announces its latest production, a first-of-its-kind initiative to bring the iconic Broadway musical 'The Sound of Music' to India. The classic musical, which has been entertaining audiences worldwide since its premiere in 1959, will make its Indian debut through a series of shows organized by NMACC.

The Sound of Music, which tells the story of the von Trapp family and their escape from Austria during World War II, has captured the hearts of audiences around the world with its enchanting score and memorable songs. NMACC's production of the musical promises to be a treat for Indian audiences, who will get to witness the classic tale of love, family and courage, brought to life on stage.

The Indian adaptation of The Sound of Music will feature a mix of Indian and international talent. The production is being directed by veteran theatre director Abhishek Mazumdar and will feature an Indian cast alongside international performers. The music for the show will be adapted by award-winning composer and conductor Kevin Farrell.

Commenting on the initiative, Nita M Ambani, Founder & Chairman, NMACC said, “We are delighted to present ‘The Sound of Music’ as the first ever international Broadway musical in India, at the Cultural Centre! We showcased the best of India in ‘The Great Indian Musical’, and now we are thrilled to bring one of the most loved international musicals of all time to India."

The production of The Sound of Music is set to tour major Indian cities, including Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, and Kolkata, among others promising to be a memorable experience for audiences and a testament to the power of performing arts in bringing people together. The show is expected to run for several months, giving audiences across the country ample opportunities to catch the musical.
