It is a Gold Glory for India as all 4 fighters Nikhat Zareen, Lovlina Borgohain, Niyu Ghanghas and Saweety Boora sweep the gold medals at Women’s World Boxing Championship. A tournament that was surrounded by controversies, whether it may be the issue between the IOC and the IBA or the boycott of the tournament by boxers from at least eight countries, Indian boxers have ensured that they return from the World Boxing Championship with gold medals.

Lovlina Borgohain

Lovlina Borgohain defeated Australia’s Caitlin Parker in the 75kg final to win the gold medal at the  Women’s World Boxing Championship in New Delhi.

Nitu Ghanghas

The two-time World Youth champion Nitu Ghanghas wins against Mongolia’s Lutsaikhan Altantsetseg in the 45-48kg category.

Nikhat Zareen

Star Indian boxer Nikhat Zareen outclassed Nguyen Thi Tam of Vietnam 5-0 in the 50kg fly weight final and retrains her World title.  

Saweety Boora

9 years after a loss in the final of 2014 edition in the Canadian city of Edmonton, Saweety beats China’s Wang Lina and wins gold in the 81kg category.
