PDM conceptualised and managed the opening ceremony of the ‘International Boxing Association (IBA) Women’s World Boxing Championship’ at the IG Stadium in Delhi on March 15, 2023. The ceremony saw athletes from 65 nations across 5 continents converge at a spectacular event which saw 6,000 fans come out in force to welcome the flag bearers and give the teams a great emotional boost for the next 10 competition days.

The show was preceded by the nation’s parade where flag bearers from 65 participating nations were cheered by the public of 6,000 people. Mary Kom and Farhan Akhtar were announced as the Brand Ambassadors of the Mahindra IBA Women’s World Championship 2022. An icon of women’s boxing in India and around the globe, six-time World Champion Mary Kom pronounced the Athlete’s Oath in the presence of BFI President Ajay Singh, IBA President Umar Kremlev and Hon’ble Union Minister of Sports and Youth Affairs & Information and Broadcasting Anurag Thakur.

A pageantry of Indian culture and tradition was showcased at the podium in front of fascinated spectators. The cultural show started with the National Anthem by the Army Band, which was followed by a Fusion Ballet performance and a Sand Art show, celebrating the divine feminine energy that is the source of all creation. It was an amalgamation of dance forms representing the rich heritage and culture pan-India.

Antonvona Ekaterina and Abdu Rozik entertained the crowd, followed by ‘Wings of Glory’ aerial acrobatics led drum performance. The Grand Finale of the ceremony saw a crew of talented artists, masters of vocal percussion, the kings of Indian Beat Boxing and the Official Indian Beatbox champion 2022 perform to ecstatic crowds.

Sanjay Kacker, Director, PDM said, “To receive the prestigious mandate of curating an international sporting event which hosted 65 nations and seamlessly manage an audience exceeding 6000 people in the country’s capital city is an honour and privilege for PDM. Creating world class events for the nation is a distinction for PDM, and adds to our repertoire of having produced many large format, legendary global and national events so far.”
