Festivals play a major role in the development of tourism, therefore to promote culture and attract tourism Government of Kerala unveiled their event festival calendar, where they listed all the upcoming festivals being held this year.
In Kerala, festival dates are decided in accordance with the Malayalam calendar, local traditions and customs, they have calculated the festival dates based on these.
Below is the Event Festival calendar for 2023:
January
Kochi Muziris Biennale- The Kochi-Muziris Biennale is an international exhibition of contemporary art being held in Kochi, Kerala every two years. The first edition of the Kochi-Muziris Biennale began on 12/12/12 and was set in spaces across Kochi, Muziris and surrounding islands.

February
Andarlur Kavu Theyyam- Being a part of North Malabar, in Andalur kavu Thira (also theyyam or theyaattam) is the main ritual of worship. It is one of the rare places where Yuddha kanda of Ramayana — the great epic — is visualised and performed. The main deities are Rama, Lakshmana and Hanuman.

Pattambi Nercha- The annual feast at the Pattambi Mosque, the Pattambi Nercha, is a grand event which sees a spectacular display of colours and sounds. The entire town gets soaked in myriad hues during the festive occasion which is held in the memory of Aloor Valiya Pookunjikoya Thangal, a Muslim saint from the Malabar region.

Othera Patayani- Othara Patayani is a ten day annual festival held in the Puthukulangara Devi Temple in Pathanamthitta district. The festival is marked by the presentation of Patayani, a vibrant ritual art form.

Puthupally Perunnal- The renowned Puthuppally Perunnal is a two-day event marked by splendour and majesty. It is celebrated at the St. George Orthodox Church, Puthuppally. Traditional prayers and rituals add to the piousness of the occasion.

Ochira Kali- Oachira Kali is a festival that takes place in June in Oachira, Kerala, India. It is a mock battle between two groups, to the sound of drums, in a waterlogged field called padanilam at the Oachira Temple.

Palayur Church Festival- The annual festival at the church lasts for two days and is attended by thousands. With vibrant pageants, orchestra, and fireworks, the festival resembles the Hindu festivals held in and around Thrissur.

Nehru Trophy Boat Race- The Nehru Trophy Boat Race is an annual vallam kali held in the Punnamada Lake near Alappuzha, Kerala, India. Vallam Kali or Vallamkaliy literally means boat play/game, but can be translated to boat race in English. The most popular event of the race is the competition of Chundan Vallams.

Feast of Holy Cross Shrine- A prominent pilgrim centre in Central Kerala, the Holy Cross Shrine at Mapranam in Thrissur is noted for its annual festival- Exaltation of Cross.

Koratty Muthy Feast- The festival is dedicated to Virgin Mary, locally known as Koratty Muthy and is marked by vibrant pageantry and rituals. The festival enjoys wide participation and has a rustic charm to it. It is held in Koratty, a scenic village in Thrissur district. Poovan Kula is the main offering here.

Revathi Pattathanam- Revathi Pattathanam is an annual assembly of scholars held since ancient times at Kozhikode in Kerala, India. Traditionally a seven-day event, the festival used to be held under the patronage of the Zamorin of Kozhikode.

Beypore Waterfest- The Kerala government has decided to conduct this years 'Beypore Water Fest' from December 24 to 28, 2022 in Kozhikode district. Water sports and entertainment events of various types will be organised.
