Kapil Dev joins hands with Grant Thornton to launch a golf event

Kapil Dev and consulting firm Grant Thornton India joined hands to launch a new annual golf tournament called Kapil Dev-Grant Thornton Invitational presented by DLF. The tournament will be organised in association with the Professional Golf Tour India (PGTI) – the official sanctioning body for the men’s sport in the country.

The event to be played from 27 to 30 September at DLF Golf and Country Club’s Gary Player Course in Gurugram will see amateur, corporate and celebrity golfers in professional action. This will be a PGTI event to be played at The Gary Player Course, considered one of the most challenging courses in the world.

The tournament will feature 126 professional golfers and after two days, the top 50 players and the tie will advance to the final round. The event will give teams consisting of golfers, celebrities and corporate leaders the opportunity to partner with professionals in Rounds 3 and 4 to compete for individual team prizes.

Kapil Dev said, “I am really excited about the tournament and would like to thank special Chandiok for sharing his vision of making it a truly historic event in India’s golf history. I would also like to thank DLF for agreeing to host the event. I express my gratitude.”

He further added, “This event is designed with other global standout events in mind, such as the annual Pebble Beach Pro-Am on the US PGA Tour and the European Tour’s Dunhill Championships in St Andrews, home of golf.”
