Watermark Event Solutions, one of the leading event management company in Kerala executed the conceptualizing, organizing and managing the commissioning ceremony of India's first indigenously built Aircraft Carrier INS Vikrant along with Prime Minister Narendra Modi at a specially arranged venue inside Cochin Shipyard in Kerala on 2 September 2022.

During the event, PM Modi also unveiled a naval ensign at the commissioning ceremony of aircraft carrier Vikrant.

Designed by the Indian Navy's in-house Warship Design Bureau (WDB) and built by Cochin Shipyard Limited, INS Vikrant is built with state-of-the-art automation features.

Sharing the technical details of the event, Sidhesh Kandiyil, Managing Director, Watermark Event Solutions said, “Built on 1.25 lakh Sq.ft German Hangar with premium gallery seating for 2500 pax, 4000 Sq.ft LED Wall, 80,000 Sq.ft of branding, the event was executed by 600 men workforce. During the 14 days of execution, the team faced various challenges like bad weather yet the team managed such a big event in limited spacing even with the change of date. We also managed catering according to the requirement of navy in accordance parallel with the security requirement of Prime minister SPG.”

Concluding his thoughts, Kandiyil said, “We could execute the event seamlessly only because of our amazing team, planning, for seeing troubles, strong vendor support and experience in handling these kind of large scale Z category events.”

Sharing his thoughts about the event, Anup Joy, Executive Director, Watermark Event Solutions said, “This is the fifth time we have handled Prime minister event and we are extremely happy to be a part of such a big event and this was possible due to our long standing association with CSL.”

The event witnessed a host of dignitaries including Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Cabinet Minister of Ports, Shipping and Waterways Sarbananda Sonowal, Kerala Governor Arif Mohammad Khan, Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, Navy Chief Admiral R Hari Kumar along with the top officials of Navy and Cochin Shipyard Limited (CSL).

During the event, PM Modi also unveiled the new Naval Ensign (Nishaan), doing away with the colonial past and befitting the rich Indian maritime heritage.
