The second edition of Cosmoprof India, a summit and expo for those in the business of beauty and personal care, was hosted on 16 and 17 December 2021 at Hotel Sahara Star, Mumbai.

Organised by Italy’s Bologna Fiere Group and Informa Markets India, the exhibition, which is meant to be an annual affair, was hosted after two and a half years due to Covid19.

The inaugural edition in 2019 hosted 237 exhibiting companies from 23 countries and 7,429 visitors from 48 countries.

Speakers in 2021 included Pushkaraj Shenai, CEO and Executive Director, Lakme Lever; Sukirti Patnaik, Founder and MD, Indulge The Salon; Blessing A Manikandan, CEO, Paulsons Beauty and Fashion; Samir Srivastav, CEO, Jean Claude Biguine Salon & Spa; Sachin Kamat, Director, Enrich Beauty, and Samay Dutta, Director, Looks Salon.

Fashion designer Masaba Gupta, who has launched a make-up collection of matte lipsticks and nail polish in association with Nykaa, was present at the show this year along with hairstylists and celebrity make-up artists such as Ojas Rajani and Namrara Soni.

Sessions titled ‘CosmoTalks’ saw professionals from the beauty business engaged in discussions on new trends and the post-pandemic strategy for the beauty industry.

Trend forecasting company WSGN presented an analysis of the make-up sector’s future. Creative activists Centdegres and fragrance company Firmenich presented new approaches in cosmetic design and packaging with emphasis on marketing to the gender-fluid, focussed on millennials and Gen Z. A ‘Cosmoprof Onstage’ allowed companies to present new products.

Yogesh Mudras, Managing Director, Informa Markets, said, “We are thrilled to host the 2021 edition. This year over 100 companies from the cosmetics sector attended. Cosmoprof India serves as a launchpad for new products and state-of-the-art solutions. Through our expo, we help exhibitors present their major breakthroughs and success stories. As organisers (in light of the pandemic), we implemented a series of measures to ensure that our exhibitors and attendees could enjoy the show without worries, and continuously monitored the situation on-ground in order to guarantee a safe and high-level business experience.”

Myntra, Purplle, Marico, Hindustan Lever, Lakme Lever, Kama Ayurveda, mCaffeine and Mamaearth were among companies which participated newly this year.

The event attracted buyers, retailers, wholesalers, representatives of various brands, entrepreneurs, influencers and students of beauty and grooming.
