A brainchild of Sameer Sethi, Circle of Love is a Chennai-based music community platform and record label assembled by and for music lovers and music makers. It is billed as a borderless community of creative minds to entertain, explore and forge new ideas.
The makers have now announced the debut edition of ‘Circle of Love (COL) Festival’ on 15 and 16 October 2021 at Radio Room with over 25 artistes performing across two days and two stages.
The lineup includes Stalv art, Skip, Mali, Nikhil Chinapa, Kayan,Manny, Jbabe, Henny, Bread & Jam, Sharan Nichani, Sneha, Booby, Mitra Visvesh, Aamer Peeran and Blackfern.
Conceptualised by Sameer Sethi of Life in Technicolor and curated by Manny (underground music expert and DJ), COL Festival is being positioned as a first-of-its-kind premier boutique music, dance and arts festival with a mission to nurture and promote homegrown talent.
Besides live acts, bands, instrumentalists and DJs, the event will feature an ‘All Talent Open-Mic’ with singers/songwriters, a rap cipher, instrumentalists, slam poetry and comedy talent judged by experts from each genre.
Founder Sethi said, “We’ve always believed that India’s independent music scene deserves major events, on par with other genres, and our boutique festival is the first of its kind to be held here in Chennai. Our aim is to put Chennai on the map as a destination for lovers of indie music, thus creating bridges between the artistes and the audiences in the city and those elsewhere in the country.”
Curator Manny added, “Our work as an organisation is all about building community in the music scene and creating opportunities for talents both established and new. The curation of 20+ artistes is an eclectic mix. The audience can enjoy the work of their favourite artistes live, while also discovering new gems. It’s an exciting time for independent music and we are looking forward to presenting a refreshing lineup and format to the audience in Chennai and showcase fresh talent through this festival.”
The festival is the platform’s first major venture since the launch of its multi-genre record label Circle of Love Records with two international releases and Centre Stage, a recorded series of performances by popular homegrown acts that was produced and streamed during last year’s lockdown.
Circle of Love Festival is a ticketed event with limited passes for those over the age of 21.
Conceptualised by Sameer Sethi of Life in Technicolor and curated by underground music expert and DJ Manny, the festival builds on the eponymous music community platform and record label.
