6th LIFFI Pays Tribute to Filmmaker Shakti Samanta with Screenings

Lonavala International Film Festival India (LIFFI)
The sixth Lonavala International Film Festival India (LIFFI) which commenced from 24 September 2021 will run over three weekends, ending 10 October 2021. This will be the second successive virtual edition of the festival.
The 2021 edition will pay tribute to late filmmaker Shakti Samanta, screening some of his memorable films on each day of the festival.
Festival director Madhav Todi, curator Viveck Vaswani and eminent film personalities including Ashim Samanta, Sandip Soparrkar, Pooja Desai, Brahmanand Singh, Jyotin Goel, Tushar Bhatia and Divya Solgama will take part in the pre-screening discussions highlighting why these films have become classics.
Todi said “We did not let the pandemic break our spirit last year and conducted the festival online. The overwhelming participation strengthened our resolve and hence we are conducting the festival online this year as well. We want to continue our endeavor of entertaining and edutaining the people of India with interesting films and interactive panel discussions with experts. Due to pandemic, we can’t organise a physical edition this year as well, though we have put together an interesting selection for everyone to enjoy with their family from the comfort of their homes.”
Sushil Kumar Agrawal, CEO, Ultra Media & Entertainment Group is the Patron in Chief of LIFFI 2021. The partners of the festival this year are Triose Boutique Hotel, Ultra Media & Entertainment Group, Pearl Academy School of Contemporary Media, Red FM and Plexigo.
One film will be streamed each day, making it three each weekend and nine in all at the festival. Viewers can watch the films and participate in panel discussions for free by downloading an app, Plexigo.
Last year’s edition was viewed by a few thousand people from all over the country, informed organisers. Previous editions of the festival were in-person events at Triose Plaza in Lonavala with film personalities in attendance.
