WedJobs.in, a job portal for the wedding management industry, was launched at an in-person event on 17 September 2021 at Grand Hyatt, Mumbai. The portal has been founded by Hemant Kale and Mareesha Parikh, Directors of Swaaha, a wedding planning and event management company. Other brands from the Swaaha stable include WedDestinations and The Wedding School.
The launch event hosted by Gunjan Utreja saw the presence of several industry leaders.
Joining the promoter-curators to launch the portal were Sabbas Joseph, Co-founder and Director, Wizcraft International; Manoj Gopalani, Director, Seventy Seven Entertainment; and Vijay Arora, Founder & Director, Touchwood Entertainment.
Event veterans also voiced their views on the changes thrust upon the industry and adapting to them. They included Khantil Mehta, Director, Go Bananas; Jaydeep Mehta, Founder, True Events; Deepak Choudhary, Founder, Event Capital and EVENTFAQS; and Arif Patel, Regional Vice President of Sales & Marketing, India, Hyatt India.
Kale underlined that the wedding and social celebrations space was one of immense interest now not just to planners, decorator and production companies, but also international hotel chains and tourism boards.
He added, “Everyone is pegging for their share of business in weddings and we see tremendous potential in the next ten years. This website is for all of you and one has to be invested to see it grow and to see the right talent come through and that’s how we will see the best days of weddings.”
Parikh said, “We both and our team have always believed that there is so much more to the wedding industry than just sangeets, expensive clothes and experiences. We have always tried to bring some more respect and we are hoping that this initiative is actually going to bring more credibility and respect in the eyes of the parents of the kids who want to join this industry, of the youngsters who want to make their creative presence felt. There’s no better opportunity than weddings in the event space. I hope we are able to spread the word and allow youngsters from two tier – three tier cities to make their presence felt.”
Besides full-time openings, WedJobs.in will also cater to freelance, project and part-time talent solutions. Areas of work will include planning, decoration, photography and catering, among others.
