International Museum Day Prahlad Singh Patel Ministry of Culture

On the occasion of International Museum Day on 18 May 2021, the Ministry of Culture, Government of India, organised multiple panel discussions.

The virtual events were aimed at reflecting on the reimagined priorities of the culture sector especially in the context of the worldwide Covid19 pandemic, and the role of museums therein.

One of the discussions was on ‘Re-imagining Museum and Culture Study Programs to Create New Pathways to the Future’ and another on the ‘Many Shades of Online Interaction and Engagement and What it Means for Museums’.

Union Minister of State for Culture and Tourism Prahlad Singh Patel delivered the keynote address at one of the virtual programmes on the day, where he underlined the richness of Indian culture and the need to showcase it to the world.

“We have to present the correct history and facts and museums can contribute to it in a big way,” he said.

Experts from fields like culture, museology, education,anthropology and heritage participated in the discussions.
