Digital media and creator network One Digital Entertainment has announced that it has partnered with UAE-based broadcast company Channel 2 Corporation, to invest in Singapore-based interactive sports content company Digital2 Sports.
One Digital, which has a play in content across music, food, comedy, bollywood, fashion and lifestyle, will foray into sports content with this development.
Channel 2 Corporation had the exclusive, global audio rights to several International Cricket Council (ICC) tournaments, from the T20 Men’s Cricket World Cup 2021 (which was originally scheduled for 2020, in Australia) to the Men’s (ODI) Cricket World Cup in 2023.
A statement announced that as part of this deal, Digital2 Sports has secured exclusive audio rights for several ICC tournaments including this year’s Men's T20 World Cup.
Digital2 Sports will work with OneDigital to bring together digital platforms, content creators and brands to create content opportunities in sports beyond live commentary, including on-demand podcasts, the statement added.
“We found great synergies in Digital2 Sports as it is not limited to cricket broadcasts but dives deeper into the sports ecosphere. This platform congregates all the industry experts from cricketers to industry veterans, to social media influencers and enthusiasts at one place for unrestricted exchange and amplification of information. We are quite excited with this investment along with Channel 2 Corporation and look forward to supporting Digital2 Sports together,” said Shabir Momin, Managing Director, One Digital Entertainment
“Cricket is one of the most passionate sports for zillions across the globe. We have been into cricket broadcast business since 2005. This investment along with OneDigital Entertainment on Digital2 Sports will take the game to the next level. Digital2 Sports is extending a dedicated wing for fans where they can access their favourite sports community at one stop. It has streamlined the episodes, sessions, panels, contests etc. (sic) to serve premium content for fans. We believe that this collaboration would be quite a treat for the fans,” added Ajay Sethi, Chairman, Channel 2 Corporation.
