Ministry of Tourism Launches ‘MICE Roadshow - Meet in India’ to Promote India as a MICE Destination

Ministry of Tourism Madhya Pradesh Tourism India Convention Promotion Bureau

In order to promote India as a MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions) destination, the Ministry of Tourism, in association with Madhya Pradesh Tourism and the India Convention Promotion Bureau, is organising the ‘MICE Roadshow - Meet in India’ brand and roadmap for the promotion of India as a MICE destination. The roadshow is being held from March 25-27 at Khajuraho, Madhya Pradesh. ‘Meet in India’ will be a distinct sub-brand under ‘Incredible India’.

Minister of State for Tourism and Culture, Prahlad Singh Patel, along with Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, also inaugurated the Chhatrasal Convention Centre at Khajuraho, developed under Swadesh Darshan Scheme of the Ministry of Tourism.

Usha Thakur, Minister for Tourism and Culture, Madhya Pradesh attended the event with other Government of India and State Government officials. The event includes keynote sessions and panel discussions on responsible tourism, iconic destination, India as a MICE destination, etc., by senior Government officials and industry experts.

The Ministry of Tourism has also framed ‘Development of Iconic Tourist Destinations Scheme’ - a Central sector scheme for development of 19 identified destinations in the country, following a holistic approach. The identified tourist sites to be developed as iconic destinations under the scheme are Taj Mahal & Fatehpur Sikri (Uttar Pradesh), Ajanta Caves & Ellora Caves (Maharashtra), Humayun’s Tomb, Red Fort & Qutub Minar (Delhi), Colva Beach (Goa), Amer Fort (Rajasthan), Somnath, Dholavira & Statue of Unity (Gujarat), Khajuraho (MP), Hampi (Karnataka), Mahabalipuram (Tamil Nadu), Kaziranga (Assam), Kumarakom (Kerala), Konark (Odisha) and Mahabodhi Temple (Bihar).

The programme at Khajuraho will also see several cultural and fitness activities like yoga, cycle tour, heritage walk, tree planting, among others.
