Tourism Ministry’s Regional Offices Mark Unlock Phase with Events Under ‘Dekho Apna Desh’ Campaign

Ministry of Tourism Dekho Apna Desh

With India moving into the unlock phase post the COVID-19 pandemic, the Ministry of Tourism, along with its Regional Offices, is organising different tourism promotional events under the ‘Dekho Apna Desh’ campaign to showcase various Tourism assets and products of the country to create awareness about them.

India Tourism, Kochi Office

Under the initiative, Ministry of Tourism’s India Tourism Kochi Office, in association with Kerala Home Stays and Tourism Society (HATS), recently organized a workshop for sensitizing home-stay and B&B unit owners about the Ministry’s scheme. It also imparted information on Nidhi & Saathi certification, specially introduced for the hospitality industry. The workshop was attended by 54 home-stay and B&B unit owners from Kochi and neighbouring districts. In another programme, 28 art forms of Kerala were displayed at a festival in Kochi, involving around 200 artistes with the intent of reviving the intangible cultural heritage of Kerala.

India Tourism, Bengaluru Office

Ministry of Tourism’s India Tourism Bengaluru Office organised a Domestic Tourism Road Show in Bengaluru on February 22 to showcase the tourism potential of Buddhist circuits and pilgrimage destinations in Uttar Pradesh. During the event, 16 tour operators from the Buddhist Inbound Tourism Fraternity (BITF) Uttar Pradesh participated in the roadshow and B2B meetings with Karnataka travel agents and tour operators.

India Tourism, Mumbai office

Ministry of Tourism’s India Tourism, Mumbai Office participated in the India International Travel Mart (IITM) held in Pune from February 23-24 showcasing tourism products of India and dissemination of information to the visitors. This was the second exhibition in the Western Region that India Tourism Mumbai participated in physically, after unlocking of destinations.

India Tourism, Hyderabad and Varanasi Office

The Ministry of Tourism’s India Tourism Hyderabad and Varanasi offices jointly organised the ‘Visit Uttar Pradesh’ Roadshow on February 24 in Hyderabad under ‘Dekho Apna Desh’. Seventeen travel trade representatives from the Buddhist Inbound Tourism Fraternity (BITF) along with travel trade operators from Telangana and Andhra Pradesh participated in the roadshow.

India Tourism, Delhi Office

70 Regional Level Guides (RLG) participated in a field trip-cum- morale-booster for them to Sundar Nursery, organised by the Ministry of Tourism’s India Tourism Delhi office. During the event, the Regional Director, Ministry of Tourism briefed the RLGs about initiatives to promote domestic tourism. The RLGs shared their experiences and a quiz contest on the life of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose was organised for them.

India Tourism, Guwahati Office

A workshop on River Tourism was organized by the Ministry of Tourism’s India Tourism, Guwahati office on February 22. The workshop was attended by 35 stakeholders who emphasized the importance of river cruises and cruise tourism in the North-east and overall in India

The Ministry of Tourism, along with its Regional Offices in Kochi, Bengaluru, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Varanasi, Delhi and Guwahati, have organised promotional events under the ‘Dekho Apna Desh’ campaign
