Procam International, promoters of Mumbai’s iconic marathon, have announced that the 18th edition of the Tata Mumbai Marathon (TMM) will take place on May 30, 2021. The marathon, usually held on the third Sunday in January every year, has a delayed date with the city due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
“With cautious optimism and hope, this decision has been taken after deliberation and collaborative efforts with the state and civic authorities, including Indian and international athletic bodies,” says a statement from the organisers.
Procam International will look to conduct the on-ground event adhering to all Government-mandated safety protocols, with limited participation in the Full Marathon, Half Marathon and 10 km runs. While limited numbers will run from their scheduled location, participants from across India and the world, will be able to run as one with TMM from a location of their preference, via the official TMM 2021 app. The promoters will continue to monitor the situation to ensure safety of all participants, officials, volunteers and the running fraternity.
The rescheduled date should give runners the necessary time to prepare for the Tata Mumbai Marathon. Also, NGOs, companies and individual fund-raisers get time for effective outreach, in order to raise funds for their chosen cause.
Details including format of the race, registration details, safety measures, protocols, and participant requirements will be shared at a later date.
