FICCI-ITQ to Hold Virtual Workshop on ‘Galileo’, Tech that Supports the Travel Industry, on Jan 21

The Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) and InterGlobe Technology Quotient (ITQ) plan to conduct an online day-long workshop - ‘Your Route to Success with Galileo’ - for travel enthusiasts and studentson January 21, 2021.It aims to help them find career opportunities as impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the travel industry has changed the way businesses have to function and manage their operations.
As a joint initiative between FICCI and ITQ, the workshop is designed to impart knowledge on Galileo - 1G Travelport Smartpoint and will be conducted by certified trainers from Galileo, a computer reservations system (CRS) owned by Travelport. Used by more than 60 premium training institutes with more than 2,000 students getting trained every year in the Galileo platform, the workshop aims to educate the youth on the Global Distribution System (GDS) - a computerized network that facilitates transactions between travel service providers and travel agents - to help them find career opportunities in the evolving Travel and Tourism landscape in India.
Dilip Chenoy, Secretary-General, FICCI said, “The COVID-19 pandemic has forced changes in operating procedures for all kind of businesses across the globe and the Travel and Tourism industry is no exception to it. Hence, any support to this large set of travel enthusiasts and students will not only help them navigate the uncertainties better but also help them get trained to have better career growth in the future.”
