Nickelodeon Teach for India Kids’ Choice Awards 2020 Viacom18

Kids television channel Nickelodeon from Viacom18 has announced the digital edition of its Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards, a children's award show. This year's awards aim to present the show in a whole new format, focused on taking it virtual and getting children not only to vote, but also to get closer to their stars in an avatar never seen before.

Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards 2020 will feature six new and relevant categories for children to vote for their favourite entertainers during the lockdown and decide who will take home the coveted ‘Nickelodeon Blimp’.

Kids will have the chance to vote for a large number of nominees across a number of new categories, including favourite online learning apps, YouTubers, Instagram personalities, sportsmen, food enjoyed during the lockdown, among others. Voting started on January 4, 2021 at www.voot.com and through the Voot app.

Nina ElaviaJaipuria, Head- Hindi Mass Entertainment & Kids TV Network, Viacom18, said, “In these challenging times, our commitment is to ensure that our young viewers remain entertained and positive. Keeping this in mind, we at Nickelodeon are going to celebrate all that is new with Kids’ Choice Awards 2020. In the virtual format, with the introduction of new categories, we aim to encourage and empower kids to cast their vote and choose their favourites who kept them going through the lockdown. Nickelodeon will also support Teach for India to help provide smart devices to children to enable online education.”

The awards will support a cause that has emerged during the pandemic, while emphasizing the need to celebrate the new normal. In order to bridge the digital education divide and ensure a smooth transition for all strata of society, Nickelodeon has partnered with the ‘Teach for India’ movement, for its ‘Sponsor A Device’ programme. The partnership will kick off during the voting process of the 2020 Kids Choice Awards, where Nickelodeon will donate Re 1 for each vote gained. Under the existing programme, the community aims to enable a new form of learning by raising funds to put a gadget in the hands of every student who needs one.

Abhik Bhattacherji, Director- Communications and Marketing, Teach For India said, “We are delighted to partner with Nickelodeon for their most prestigious awards show. Their support to our #DontStopLearning campaign is important and we are deeply grateful to their commitment to sponsor a device to ensure our students continue learning. We are confident that this partnership will play a significant role in bridging the digital divide."

The marketing campaign is being promoted through a digital and social media plan, on-line interaction, support across the Nickelodeon franchise and social media challenges along with a drive from the entire network. There are several innovations on the digital front, including tonnes of quirky communication on YouTube.

There will be a #KCAsquad with influencers giving audiences all the latest updates on #KCAIndia2020. In addition, there will be slime-inspired digital games, contests, AR filters, virtual face-offs and a series of engaging and on-line interactions that will create fun experiences for children.
