30th Lakshminarayana Global Music Festival to Have Digital Performances Every Weekend from Jan 9

V Lakshminarayana Lakshminarayana Global Music Festival

The 30th edition of the Lakshmi Narayana Global Music Festival - started in 1992 by Viji Subramaniam & Dr L Subramaniam in memory of their father and guru Prof. V Lakshminarayana –will see a series of digital performances beginning at 7 pm every weekend between January 9 to January 24, 2021, which will be streamed on the Facebook pages and YouTube channel of Dr L Subramaniam and Kavita Krishnamurti Subramaniam. A number of artistes from across the world, including India, will participate in the event.

A new piece called ‘Jupiter Symphony’ has been recorded by the European recording symphony orchestra from Sofia (Bulgaria) featuring Kavita Krishnamurti Subramaniam for the event. It will also feature guitar icon John McLaughlin playing a duet with L Subramaniam for the very first time at the festival, while Madagascar’s star performer Germain Randrianarisoa, known as Rajery, will be playing the Valiha. Other renowned performers include Usha Uthup, Pankaj Udhas and Anup Jalota. The other European performers include the leading Flamenco dancer Ursula Moreno, the Tuba virtuoso from Norway OysteinBaadsvik, and the classical pianist Svetlana Smolina.

Lakshminarayana Global Music Festival will also present exclusive recorded interviews with legendary music personalities including Lord Yehudi Menuhin, maestro Ilaiyaraaja, jazz icon Stephane Grappelli and French violinist Ivry Gitlis. L Subramaniam will be interacting with some of the leading performers.

The festival to honour Prof. V Lakshminarayana will begin at 7 pm every weekend between January 9 to January 24, 2021, and streamed on Facebook and YouTube
