Mrs Mommy 2020 Kangafest 2020

The first virtual edition of Mrs Mommy 2020 was held recently, as part of Kangafest 2020. Celebrating the second anniversary of Kangatraining – which teaches mothers to be fit during and after pregnancy by training, dancing and working out with their babies - in India, country leader for Kangatraining India and founder of the Mrs Mommy contest, Pooja Jambotkar, said, “With all the challenges of it being a virtual pageant, we are happy with the response and love we received.”

Mrs Mommy is a pageant that felicitates and celebrates motherhood. It aims to give mothers a platform to be recognised and to participate in a national level pageant, proving that even after becoming mothers, women can be great achievers. Contestants are judged on the basis of their confidence, creativity and overall personality, not their looks.

Lead-up to the grand finale

About 225 mothers across India participated in the preliminary rounds of the contest, which took place virtually on November 1 and 2, 2020. The jury selected top 20 finalists during these rounds and from Nov 17 to Nov 21, various grooming sessions for the contestants were organised by experts from various fields. The grand finale of Mrs Mommy 2020 was held virtually on November 22, in which finalists faced three rounds - Introduction Round, Talent Round and Traditional Round. After these rounds, the Top 5 were selected for the final question-and-answer round. In this round, judges asked each contestant a question on motherhood.

The winner of Mrs Mommy 2020 was Anushree Roy, with Kinjal Ajmera and Priya Suryawanshi emerging as first and second runner-up respectively.

Judges for the pageant included Urmila Kothare, Marathi movie actor, Shrima Rai, Mrs India & Influencer, Amita Sachar, actor and influencer, Purvi Pugalia, Mastermind and master chef for Munchilious & Soch, and Priti Bhatia, Mrs India Earth. The official fashion designer and also judge for the pageant was Ishika Sarang from the label Tinyteenyboppers.

Kangatraining in India

Pooja Jambotkar got trained in Vienna, Austria, and then started Kangatraining in India in October, 2018. She conducts post-natal workout sessions for mothers and babies across India. She also conducts professional educational programmes for her trainers, thus giving them an opportunity to start their own business as Kanga trainers across India.

Across India, 225 mothers participated in the preliminary rounds of the contest, held virtually on Nov 1 and 2. Top 20 finalists emerged from these rounds and the grand finale was held on Nov 22.
