Festival of Festivals Event Capital BookMyShow The International Kids Film Festival

Event Capital and BookMyShow have announced the launch of ‘Festival of Festivals’ (FoF). The curated collection of India’s event IPs (intellectual properties) across genres such as music, food, literature, languages, fashion and more, has been conceived to boost India’s live entertainment sector that has been heavily impacted through the Covid19 crisis.

A first-of-its-kind initiative, the three-day virtual gala starts 14th August 2020. It is slated to feature 15 festivals, adding up to over 23 hours of content. The ticketed event will donate 10 percent of proceeds to NGO Anahad, to support artistes involved in live entertainment impacted by the pandemic. This will be routed through BookMyShow’s charity initiative BookASmile.

EVENTFAQS Media reached out to participating festivals to know what one can expect to see at the inaugural FoF and what participants expect from the new property. Here below is an interaction with Syed Sultan Ahmed, Managing Director, LXL Ideas, from The International Kids Film Festival.

How does a move from on-ground to virtual format impact an established event IP like yours?

The International Kids Film Festival (IKFF) was always designed to be both an on-ground and an online event. The on-ground event has its own charm like having a physical venue and interactions, but the online version allows us to reach out to more children and families with great kids films made from across the globe. The festival aims to introduce kids to the magic of films and utilise its power to educate and inspire; we can achieve this beautifully online as well.

What is your expectation from being part of the Festival of Festivals?

IKFF has been bringing some of the best children's films from across the globe to schools for three years since its inception in 2017. We are excited that through a medium like Festival of Festivals we can expand our scope beyond schools and reach many more children and their families and bring them the magic of children's films.

What is the content module you are coming up with for FoF? How similar or different will this be from your original festival?

Normally IKFF is a 2-week festival and as part of IKFF at the Festival of Festivals we are curating a 90-minutes programme that will give kids and families a great experience of the festival. We have lined up an array of award-winning short films from France, Switzerland, Colombia, Russia and India. The films are a combination animation and live action - a small taste of the variety of films IKFF showcases every year. Apart from watching the films, the audience will get to interact with filmmakers who will share insights into their craft and discuss the art.

One reason for people to watch it, over the plethora of content on the web.

Kids content that is available on the net today focuses on entertainment at any cost; the content does not necessarily have a good impact on children. Most parents are not happy with what their kids watch. IKFF curates award-winning, diverse and impactful children's films made by independent filmmakers all over the world. These films are not available on mainstream channels. It features child-safe, age-appropriate content that not just entertains but also inspires and educates. IKFF at the Festival of Festivals will be a great 90-minute family entertaining experience.
