Festival of Festivals Event Capital BookMyShow
Event Capital and BookMyShow have announced the launch of ‘Festival of Festivals’ (FoF). The curated collection of India’s event IPs (intellectual properties) across genres such as music, food, literature, languages, fashion, and more, has been conceived to boost India’s live entertainment sector that has been heavily impacted through the Covid19 crisis.
A first-of-its-kind initiative, the three-day virtual gala starts 14th August 2020. It is slated to feature 15 festivals, adding up to over 23 hours of content. The ticketed event will donate 10 percent of proceeds to NGO Anahad, to support artistes involved in live entertainment impacted by the pandemic. This will be routed through BookMyShow’s charity initiative BookASmile.
EVENTFAQS Media reached out to participating festivals to know what one can expect to see at the inaugural FoF and what participants expect from the new property. Here below is an interaction with Alim Moorani, Executive Director, Cineyug, organisers of participating festival BollyLand.
How does a move from on-ground to virtual format impact an established event IP like yours?
This move to do the event virtually helps us keep the fans engaged, and allows us to bring to them Bollywood Dance Music, infused with the latest hits. Our IP stays current with the fans and artistes, and keeps everyone enthralled. The IP is best experienced in the physical format, like any other event, however, we will keep the experience as true to its physical counterpart as much as possible.
What is your expectation from being part of the Festival of Festivals?
We are excited to be a part of Festival of Festivals, positioned with some of the top IPs of India, bringing together diverse audiences and groups from different cultures, interests, and backgrounds from all over the country. After all, that is what this country stands for. We are proud to be able to give our fans an exciting virtual experience, while audiences who are fans of anyone particular IP can be exposed to and enjoy another different high-quality IP that might interest them, all within the span of three days.
What is the content module you are coming up with for FoF? How similar or different will this be from your original festival?
We are delivering high-energy Bollywood Dance Music, from two of the country's top DJs, to keep the youth tapping their feet and grooving to their tunes for a whole 90 minutes. Audiences can consume the content from the safety of their homes, while still enjoying the feel of listening to their favourite DJ spinning live.
One reason for people to watch it, over the plethora of content on the web.
Content is all over the web, but quality music and quality content lives forever. That's what we aim to curate for our fans, with DJs who have experience of playing for all kinds of crowds and being able to fine-tune the experience to maximise enjoyability for listeners.
