Xavier Institute of Communications (XIC), a unit of St. Xavier’s College (Autonomous), has launched a 10-month diploma course in ‘Event Planning and Experiential Marketing’. The full-time course will enroll students for the academic year 2020-’21.
XIC said in a statement that it has developed a compressive syllabus and robust course structure to give its students a 360-degree perspective and an in-depth exposure to the media and entertainment industry. The course has been designed keeping in mind the current expectations and future trends of the event industry, an official statement added.
“While the events industry has garnered a very optimistic growth in the media ecosystem, reality showed a dearth of qualified event professionals at the entry-level. To plug this gap, XIC has stepped up to give the communications community another breed of well-qualified event practitioners. Some of our current courses like ‘Advertising & Marketing’, ‘Public Relations’ and the ‘Advanced Integrated Communication Programme’ already had an ‘Event Management’ module as a part of their programme,” said Dr. Fr. Conrad Pesso, SJ, Director, XIC.
He added that the response and buzz generated from on-ground events encouraged XIC to offer an event-centric course to aspiring students who wanted to make a full-time career in event management.
A substantial part of the course will be conducted through ‘assisted learning’ that involves students undertaking assignments, research case studies and projects individually or in groups, under the guidance of qualified and industry-experienced faculty, according to the institute.
