Robert Koene Floral Art recently designed and executed luxury wedding flowers and décor for a destination wedding at Athens Riviera in the Grand Resort Lagonissi in Greece. Taking into consideration the venue, which was open by the seashore, Robert and the team went for a glamorous ballroom kind of feel décor for the celebration.

The theme of the decor was to have the table centerpieces covered in an organic texture so it will blend nicely with the surroundings, mainly rocks and the sea.  They made small squares of a banana tree bark mixed with squares of gold leaf chips to add a touch of sophistication.

While the idea was quite simple but the labor was very intensive as every small piece needed to be glue one by one on the entire structure. The color pallet of white and pink lush Phalaenopsis orchids, garden roses, and hydrangeas completed the look. The table settings were in clear crystal with ornated etching in real Italian 24kt gold and crisp white linens.

The wedding being outdoors, they had to make some adjustments, as wind is a significant challenge in the Mediterranean beside the dry and warm weather.

Table centerpieces had to be windproof, the floral wall, etc. All structures for the wedding and location were custom made for the client.

Speaking about the wedding, Robert Koene, Director, Robert Koene Floral Art & Events said, “The couple loved my style and gave me the creative freedom to design. I have given my best advice on how to get the best results and the look they were hoping for in an outdoor environment. It can be quite challenging when it comes to decorations, as we always have to think about security first and looks second. I have extensive experience in outdoor weddings with high-temperature, strong winds conditions around the seaside, which is the most challenging weddings to execute.”

He also believes when one wants to become a good floral designer, one has to start with a good foundation, which means one has to know the theory behind, one has to know the basic technique and from there one can build their master skills.
