Arena Middle East Clash on the Dunes Ad Diryah, Saudi Arabia
Arena Middle East recently designed and installed 15,000 seats for the Diriyah Arena and hospitality structure, ahead of the Joshua v Ruiz II boxing match “Clash on the Dunes” being held on November 22nd to December 21st 2019 at the Ad Diryah, Saudi Arabia.
For this event, Arena created a temporary grandstand with 15,000 seats, a hospitality structure to accommodate over 2,000 guests, and full interior design inspired by local Ad Diriyah ‘najdi’ architecture, with natural organic colors and textures, luxurious lounge, dining and food presentation areas for VIP guests, as well as the Royal Box.
The overall aesthetic of the interior design was warm, with colors and textures that were inspired by the local architecture of Al Diriyah, which the client asked for in the brief. Arena was able to design two double-height interior atriums which gave a great wow factor to the interiors. Secondly, the double aspect building with terraces on both sides which gave great views of the Formula E track and the boxing/tennis stadium really created an intimate, exciting spectator experience. The client loved the whole effect and that was a very rewarding feeling.
As this was the first time in history that a professional heavyweight boxing match was being held in the Middle East, let alone taking place in a temporary structure, Arena strived to provide a sustainable solution by utilising the re-usable Arena Super Deck system for the hospitality structure as well as the grandstand seating.
