In an exclusive conversation with EVENTFAQS, Harshad Chavan, Managing Director, Toast Events gives an insight about the journey of the company, challenges faced, future plans and more!

Celebrating 5 years of Toast Events, take us through your journey of how the company has grown over the years since its inception.

The journey has been quite adventurous and fulfilling. We’ve gone from being just an events company to becoming a proper 360-degree marketing and experiential firm. We’ve gone from focusing only on fashion, retail luxury to working with some of the most amazing brands in hospitality, technology, automobile, aviation among others. It’s been quite a journey, and we’re very grateful, humbled by the love and support we’ve received from the industry. And once this lockdown is over, we are waiting to jump back into work and do so much more. We already know some amazing campaigns that are lined up for the second half of the year and we’re hoping everyone’s going to be able to return to normal by then.

Showcasing 5 years of Toast Events

What are the biggest challenges you faced during the tenure of 5 years; how did Toast Events cope up with it?

The challenges have always been about breaking the clutter with new and creative ideas. We have managed to carve a niche for ourselves with ideas that always gave the consumer a hatke experience. Besides that, the industry has been kind, clients have trusted us impeccably. So, any challenge that came our way has been worth all the extra hard work. Right now, of course, the pandemic is changing the way people consume content, putting the industry on hold. This is also hopefully a challenge we will all overcome together.

Tell us about your experience. How do you think the live event industry has shaped up through the years?

It has grown by leaps and bounds, and we are slowly but surely making an impact. Sports and music have been huge contributors to this space for us and have really made the audience, brands sit up and take notice. It is fabulous to see grand properties like Bollywood Music Project, Cirque Du Soleil, all the international artists performing in India.

Having said that I still feel we have miles to go before we reach the level of hosting globally recognized events like Tomorrowland, Coachella, Glastonbury, etc. I do believe we will get there. We’ve already started in the right direction and it’s a matter of time before India has the next biggest global event.

Comment on how you are dealing with the pandemic and what different ways did you use to execute events during the outbreak?

We’ve hunkered down like the rest of the industry, but our creative factory is still working and we’re churning out concepts that we believe will make a difference. It has also given the team a much-needed break – some time to rest and recharge. It has allowed us to take steps back and analyze what we can do differently, and how we can change the game when we return.
