Wedding Umbrella beautifully executed a Japanese theme Mehendi event on January 19th, 2020 for its client.

The venue was the client’s residence which had a sprawling lawn and a beautiful orchard in it. After executing two weddings for the family at the same venue, the client expected for a unique and creative Mehendi function.

At the outset the team was clear that considering the precedents set at the venue; they didn’t want to opt for the conventional Mehendi decor that would involve the use of bright yellows, pinks, and oranges along with gota balls. And therefore thought off presenting a Japanese themed decor. A typical Gujarati Mehendi is an event that is deeply rooted in cultural ethos but the client wanted to present something very unique and unheard of; so the team was also conscious of not making this a very quirky affair. 

The decor part was accentuated with extensive use of Japanese lamps, umbrellas, and works of origami laced throughout the venue. Special care was taken to brief the floral artists and attempted to recreate the magic of Ikebana- the Japanese art of flower arrangement while maintaining the perfect charm of the pastel palette. 

The focal point of the entire venue was a 100-year old Banayan tree that would sit in its full glory right in the center of the lawns. And to add a sense of spirituality to the gathering and amplify the essence of ‘Bodhi Tree’ – we installed a stupa of sitting Buddha and decorated the surroundings with magnificent ambiance lighting which would create a moment that was entrenched in divinity! The cuisine for the evening too saw the quintessential Japanese touch including Sushi, Noodles, Hot Pots and Tofu that completed this lovely experience!
