As Usually Unusual Entertainment aka U2 Entertainment commenced into their 5th Anniversary as a Brand, 2020  as a year started on a high note. Expertising as a Show Running and Stage Management Agency, headquartered in Bombay, led by Amrita Puri & Keyur Shah, with a multitude of high-value events lined up including Amazon Smbhav, Namaste Trump, Def Expo 2020, Arth – A Cultural Fest amongst many others.

The 150-year celebration of the Kolkata Port Trust saw the Hon'ble Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi as the chief guest. At the event, U2 Entertainment with its 40 members strong team, managed the show running & stage management, as well as the MIP, VVIP & General, guest seating of over 7000 people.

U2 Entertainment continued with its busy schedule and managed the show running and stage management at Amazon Smbhav. The mega event produced by Vibgyor Brand Services in the month of January was held in Delhi. It focused on getting diverse perspectives from eminent industry experts, policymakers, solution providers and Amazon leadership on areas most relevant for small and medium businesses.

Prominent speakers at the session included N R Narayana Murthy, Co-founder Infosys, Kishore Biyani, Founder and CEO, Future Group which was preceded by a keynote session by Jeff Bezos, Founder & Global CEO of Amazon, on his maiden visit to India. The show running & stage management was executed by U2 Entertainment for the 2-day summit.

“Amazon Smbhav wasn’t a typical protocol event, but when you work with a global brand it measures up to the same thing. Having worked on several international level events over the years we, as a team, are used to delivering at par with international standards and at the same time account for any national or company-specific nuance, and this quality is what sets us apart from the rest” said Amrita Puri, Creative Director, Usually Unusual Entertainment.

And the inundation of protocol events continued for U2 Entertainment in the month of February too. Defence Expo 2020 in Lucknow, which required significant focus once again saw the Hon'ble Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi as the chief guest amongst other important dignitaries like the Hon’able Defence Minister of India, Shri Rajnath Singh, Hon'ble Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Shri Yogi Adityanath and several Defence Ministers and Secretariats from all over the world.

U2 Entertainment was busy working on this project for about almost a couple of weeks managing various areas as showrunners with a strong 9 member team.

Following the aforesaid events, U2 Entertainment prepared itself for Namaste Trump, a significant event executed by Wizcraft International, which saw a collaboration between the two-nation heads - Hon'ble Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi and President of the United States of America,  Donald Trump. The event was one of the biggest protocol events to be held in India with over one lakh people in the audience. It was by no means an easy event but it was successfully run by U2 Entertainment.

“All eyes world over were focused on this mammoth of an event. It was indeed a prestigious event to be a part of, something as major as Namaste Trump has not taken place in India ever and we do not anticipate it taking place again anytime soon” said Keyur Shah, Founding Director, Usually Unusual Entertainment.

The Khelo India University Games 2020 in Bhubaneshwar had a 90-minute Opening Ceremony which was telecast live on Star Sports & Doordarshan and had the participating students sitting in the audience. The event started with the protocol segment with inspiring speeches by the Hon’ble Sports Minister of India, Shri Kiren Rijiju and the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Odisha, Shri. Naveen Patnaik. Thereafter Hon’ble Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi gave a motivating speech and declared the games open via a live webcast. This was followed by the cultural segment which had 250 plus performers with large & small props which were utilized by the dancers bringing together a synchronization between sports & dance.

Completing these noteworthy national and international events, U2 Entertainment also worked tirelessly on an Indo Italian wedding in Jaisalmer with KKings Events. U2 Entertainment was handling the RSVP, Hospitality, Logistics, and Show Management with a strong 35 member team. The team had started work 2 months prior to the wedding to flawlessly execute the event and make the celebrations extremely special for the family. To Top it all Usually Unusual Entertainment was also recently recognized as the ‘Leading Event service provider PAN India' at the Future of India Business Awards 2020.

Just as the year had begun on a busy note, signaling a significant line up of events in the months to follow, the global pandemic of COVID-19 has stalled most of the events and re-scheduled them to a later date in the year. And in these unprecedented times, U2 Entertainment is focusing on building its resilience and other skills to tide over such times while practicing gratitude and also supporting the community in their own way, until normalcy returns.
