Expo 2020 Dubai

The Expo 2020 Dubai is likely to postpone by one year as many countries have been significantly impacted by COVID-19 worldwide.

The announcement came on Monday after a meeting with the Steering Committee. The organizers followed the Bureau International des Expositions (BIE) processes on making the decision to delay Expo 2020.

Further to this week’s agreement by the Steering Committee to explore options for a postponement, the Bureau International des Expositions has also confirmed that a decision will be made by the Executive Committee meeting on April 21st, 2020 and by two-thirds majority vote of BIE Member States.

The BIE will consider a proposed change of dates for Expo 2020 Dubai, beginning October 1st, 2021 and running to March 31st, 2022, as formally requested by the UAE Government.

The Expo was set to take place from October 20 to April 10, 2021, expecting to bring around 11 million visitors from all over the world to Dubai and bringing together up to 192 countries. No new dates for Expo 2020 Dubai have been confirmed.
