70 EMG India International Jewellery Show (IIJS) India Gem & Jewellery Machinery Expo (IGJME) Bombay Exhibition Center

For the past 13 years, 70 EMG has produced the Signature Edition of India International Jewellery Show (IIJS) for the Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council, the most prominent of its kind for the Gem and Jewellery industry.

70 EMG produced and managed the entire expo at the Bombay Exhibition Center which was spread across 4 Major Halls. As per the final numbers, this expo recorded over 800 exhibitors, 1,300 booths and 18,000 trade visitors over the 4 days of the expo. Industry delegates from countries like Iran, Sri-Lanka, UK, Nepal, UAE, and Jordan attended the Expo to take advantage of this prestigious B2B Platform to gather the latest trends in the Indian jewelry segment.

To mark the gates open for the highly anticipated edition of the IIJS Signature & IGJME 2020, the Ribbon Cutting ceremony was held in the presence of Subhash Desai, Hon. Minister for Industries & Mining, Maharashtra State. The dignitaries along with Subhash Desai were Pramod Kumar Agrawal, Colin Shah,  Mansukh Kothari and Sabyasachi Ray who also unveiled the IIJS Signature 2020 and IGJME Media Kit by unwrapping a larger than life replica of the Kit. They even inaugurated the very first ‘Jewellery Start-up Zone’ with one side showcasing the humble start-ups and the other side showcasing Women Entrepreneurs. The ‘Jewellery Start-up Zone’ was a major hit with the attendees and managed to attract major footfalls.

The event was planned keeping in mind the attendees’ needs and demands. From seamless RFID based check-ins to completely digitizing the entire event catalog online on the ‘GJEPC’ app. A key attraction of the Expo was the Signature Zone which housed the Premium Booths along with elegant Coffee Shops & Cafeterias to make sure there would always be a space for attendees to come and grab a quite bite with their clients.

Keeping the scale of the exhibition in mind, adequate crisis management arrangements were made, right from first aid booths, ambulances to fire extinguishers and a hall evacuation plan in place along with registration booths, a Business center, a Media lounge, multiple Cafeterias, and Coffee shops were set-up. Information Kiosks were strategically located at various entrances, central squares as well as near coffee shops in various sections of the halls, they were manned by trained hostesses who had access to a specially developed interactive floor plan on computers.

Yateen Darekar, Project Head of IIJS Signature said, “70 EMG has managed and executed this project for over a decade now, but this time the key challenge was the set-up duration - a mere four days. With time not being on our side, we had to meticulously plan our approach and monitor the critical build elements. With a huge number of safety vaults being placed while simultaneously keeping a check on the completion of the of booths, all the teams were divided in different shifts to meet the stringent timelines. Security was of prime importance at the venue and to maintain the same security hygiene, the entry badges had different access codes for different visitors, allowing access to specific areas of the exhibition along with entry timings. A fully equipped business center was set-up to provide all the modern amenities necessary. To ensure that we maintained 70 EMG standards across all key areas, every hall in the exhibition was divided into different sections and zones and every zone was handled by a service stall manager, to maintain those quality checks.”

With a team of close to 156 event professionals working on the Expo looking into key areas of specialization, this edition of IIJS Signature & IGJME 2020 was a massive team effort.
