Regional Office Maharashtra in collaboration with Goa Tourism and ICPB had organized an Interactive MICE Seminar to deliberate on how Goa can be promoted as a MICE destination. The discussion covered various topics like incentive and initiative by State Government to promote Goa as a MICE destination, the role of Tourism Ministry, Government of India in the promotion of MICE in Goa.
Madhu Dubey, Executive Director ICPB presented the Role Bureaus that can help in repositioning Goa as a MICE destination.
The highlight of the Day’s seminar was the panel discussion “Marketing Hotels – Key Segment for MICE in Goa". It was an interactive deliberation with panelists from various MICE segments, Incentives, Exhibitions, and Convention & Meeting – discussing the power of Incentive, challenges for holding large conferences, and meeting design. The panel was represented by Mr. Amaresh Tiwari, Mr. Sanjay Soni and Mr. Amit Saroj from ICPB and Mr. Gaurav Apte from Marriott Goa.
The outcome of the deliberation was the strategies of attracting Business event which is totally different from that of Leisure Market. The session was moderated by Chander Mansharamani, Vice Chairman, ICPB. The other recommendations by Vice Chairman ICPB to have MICE Policy suggested a few of the initiative measures Goa Tourism can initiate to prioritize the Source Market and develop a Marketing Calendar. He recommended global outreach of Media – a separate budget for MICE, incentivizing International Conferences & Meetings to make hosting Conferences in India an attractive proposition – Hosting Site visits and creating Corpus fund – for Marketing and supporting the Bidding process. He also suggested participation in MICE related Trade shows in India and abroad, certification program to enhance the level of services in accordance with International standards and one of the most important segments of Global Convention Industry is the Conferences organized by International Scientific, Technical, and Medical Associations.
After getting a good response from Goa, ICPB now plans to have similar Interactive Day programs in various cities to promote MICE across the country.
