Hey Krish
Love is usually at the heart of everything they do but this time The VIP Studio have created something very different from their usual jaw-dropping wedding films. They have ventured into the world of cartoons! Hey Krish is The VIP Studio’s first entry into the world of cartoons and it’s already been tipped off to be one of India’s favourites by school children! Hey Krish is a fun learning based TV show for 2-7-year old’s based around the UK’s National Curriculum with a backdrop of child versions of Hindu gods.
“I thought of the idea when I had my first born, I was watching children’s TV with him and thought wouldn’t it be great if he could learn about Hindu gods whilst watching shows. Once I shared the idea with the team, we got to work and before we knew it Hey Krish was born!” Iqbal Dhutti, CEO,The VIP Studio.
“Hey Krish is the perfect bridge for children from the Asian subcontinent to connect with the west and embrace English as a language and vice versa for the UK and the rest of the world to connect and embrace Indian Culture. Today, we see most cartoons based on American icons, here we have created child versions of Lord Krishna, Lord Ganesh, Lord Hanuman, and Radha which work phenomenally well when set against early learning modules.”. Rahul Sethi, COO, The VIP Studio.
Hey Krish follows the popular 5-minute episode format and offers key learning lessons such as numbers, shapes, alphabets, etc. The VIP Studio, a well-known wedding photo and cinema house has started production in India and has produced the two episodes with another 8 on the floor. UK based BBC’s children’s TV writer Shai Hussain has written all the scripts and iconic British podcaster Julian lllman is the main narrator.
“At present, we are concentrating on producing the first series which has 10 episodes whilst tabling talks with the likes of Amazon Prime, Netflix and Entertainment One for a potential JV for series 2 to 10. Being a wedding house we have limited manpower but with the might of a big animation house behind us we could produce more episodes at a faster rate”. Rahul Sethi, COO, The VIP Studio. According to online giant Netflix, the potential for a new children’s TV show based on Hindu gods is huge in India as they have seen the success with Chota Bheem, Bal Hanuman and others.
“We have grown VIP to a notable size, we cover 75-90 weddings a year and our team is a well-oiled machine now, so it seemed like the perfect time to get into it. We’ve wanted to do something different for a long time and with so many online players all vying for content, we thought it would be a great time to explore new opportunities”. Iqbal Dhutti, CEO, The VIP Studio.
