Only Much Louder Bacardi NH7 Weekender

One of the most anticipated live music experiences in India, BACARDÍ NH7 Weekender received an enormous response on day 2 at its ninth edition in Pune. The festival drew music fans to Mahalaxmi Lawns to witness their favourite artists perform in the happiest music festival’s hometown.

The festival’s headlining acts included American guitar virtuoso Joe Satriani, who performed in India for the first time in 13 years and was given a rousing reception by guitar and rock-crazy fans. The festival also saw performances by some of the most loved artists in the country including rock sensation The Local Train, electronic act Dualist Inquiry and Hindustani dance music composer Ritviz, who debuted his new album Ved and shot the music video for his hit song Barso. The indie folk act When Chai Met Toast known for their happy-go-lucky performances also performed at the festival. Adelaide’s 7 member garage-rock act West Thebarton also received a stunning applause from the audience.

Day 2 of the festival saw other electronic acts such as Komorebi, Sandunes Live, Ape Echoes, Burudu, DCF_SHAPES, I M U R and Sapta, who surprised his audience by performing with a string quartet. The festival highlights also include reggae act Dewdrops, indie-rock act DOE, alternative pop-rock Fame the Band, singer-songwriters Jay Abo, R&B/Jazz outfit Kimochi Youkai, folk-rock Lagori, singer-songwriter Louise Burns, singer-songwriter Tanya Nambiar, blues act The Kush Upadhyay Group.

The comedy artists for Day 2 attracted an enthusiastic crowd and included Aishwarya Mohanraj, Kaneez Surka, Kunal Rao, Niveditha Prakasam, Prashasti Singh, Rohan Joshi, Sumit Anand, Zakir Khan as well as a surprise secret set by Azeem Banatwalla. The excellent reception of the comedy artists at the festival reflects the massive interest in the comedy genre throughout the country. The comedians also held a series of meet-and-greets at the official Louder merchandise stall, where their official merch was being sold.

Day 3 December 9, of the festival held a variety of acts for the fans including the keenly awaited multi-instrumentalist FKJ. The festival also hosted the legendary Hindustani classical musician Shubha Mudgal who performed her hits at the festival for the first time. Singer-songwriter Aditi Ramesh, acoustic trio Cinema of Excess, rock band The LaFontaines, bass artist Gurbax along with stand-up artists such as Biswa Kalyan Rath, Radhika Vaz, Sonali Thakker, Sumaira Shaikh were some of the other names who performed.

The Thar - one of India’s most iconic SUVs was prominently displayed, where people got to see what it was all about, check it out and pose with it. People also had a blast at The Too Yumm Zone with snacks, games, and places to relax. Specialized craftsmen at The Levi’s Tailor Shop made personalized monograms or patches for fans. As always, The Bazaar featured pop-up shops of new fashion, accessories, art, official band and festival merch, and more, while fans could catch a bite at an array of food stalls, offering a wide variety of cuisines, which you can instagram with Airtel’s free wifi at the venue. The festival is disabled-friendly (with provision for risers), as well as pet and child-friendly. Festival fans have nothing to worry about, as a medical tent with licensed EMTs, as well as an ambulance, are both available. A notable aspect of the festival is its aim to be zero-waste, and towards this end, segregated bins and paper straws (instead of plastic ones) were seen. Last year, in collaboration with Skrap, the Pune edition of the festival successfully managed to divert 85% of the 10.2 tonnes of waste generated away from landfills by either composting, donating or sending it for recycling and reuse.
