Art Bengaluru is one of South India’s leading art festival. Over the last 7 editions, Prestige group endeavoured to raise appreciation and awareness of art in all its forms –– from painting, sculpture, installations, and photography, to music, dance and other performing art forms. The festival was managed by Sublime Galleria.
From showcasing established global and local artists, to serving as a platform for emerging artists and galleries from around the world, Art Bengaluru has always inspired. And this year, Art Bengaluru is back for its 8th edition and as usual, has added a new dimension to art in the city. Converting the grand interiors of The Collection, UB City into a treasure trove of art, art enthusiasts appreciated the unique and diverse mediums and styles used by artists from across the country. The festival had about 24 exhibits by 17 Indian artists (paintings, photo media and ink drawings to art installations, sculptures and video projects).
Some of the art on display include Balan Nambiar’s three steel sculptural exhibits, Kavita Jaiswal’s mixed media work on canvas, Vipta Kapadia’s abstracts in oil and Chandan Bhowmick’s terrestrial abstractions in acrylic, and D Venkatapathy’s linear hill scape in pen and ink, on paper, from 1986. Other artists at the festival Yuvan Bothysathavur, S Ravi Shankar and Ganesh Selvaraj.
Sponsors associated with this festival were Jeep, Housing.com, Indigo 91.9, Campo Viejo and Absolut. This year's innovation included the use of different art mediums such as Paper, Metal sculptures, visual art, and wood
Riaz Basha was roped in as the official host for the festival. Commenting on his experience of the fest he says, "What a lovely event #ArtBengaluru2018 has been. The festival of which I was the official host saw the who’s who of the Art World including acclaimed artists such as Balan Nambiar, Gurudas Shenoy, Kavita Jaiswal and a host of others including some really young artists as well congregate at the iconic modern day monument, UB City. And I was very touched by the humility of one of the greatest artists of India Balan Nambiar, who was warm in his conversation with me. To be one of the Top 5 Art Festivals of India connecting not just Art Connoisseurs, but the curious general public as well, there has gone in a lot of hard work. All credit goes to the vision of this lovely human being and a wonderful young entrepreneur - Uzma Irfan, Festival Director and Founder, Sublime Galleria."
From steel sculpture to video installations, abstract photography to mixed media paintings, Art Bengaluru 2018 proudly showcased over 100 works of art. This festival is the need of the hour as it served as a platform for little kids who got introduced to the world of art at an early age. The festival had organized curated art walks that lasted 90 minutes between multiple levels at the venue and also saw some breathtaking entertainment in the Flying Drummers among other elements.
"To just be able to experience amazing artwork by artists from around the world each year, to be able to participate in workshops, to enjoy the bonhomie and camaraderie of a different kind, and to have the opportunity to network amongst art lovers, in itself is pure joy," adds Riaz.
'Art Bengaluru 2018' a Prestige Group intellectual property is back this year to raise awareness about art hosted by Riaz Basha.
