Chief Minister Unveils Kokuyo Camlin’s ‘Canvas of Courage’ on 26/11

To mark 10 years of the unprecedented terrorist attacks the city witnessed on November 26, 2008, Kokuyo Camlin, the premier stationery brand paid tribute through its initiative ‘Canvas of Courage’, an expression of art, gratifying those brave hearts who sacrificed their lives protecting others. Hon. Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Shri Devendra Fadnavis along with the Commissioner of Police, Subodh Jaiswal and the Joint Commissioner of Police, Deven Bharti unveiled these painting installations at the memorial at the Police Gymkhana, Marine Drive. 

These paintings made by the students of the JJ School of Art and based on the theme of the unprecedented terror attacks the city witnessed 10 years ago were gifted to the Office of the Police Commissioner of Mumbai for their keepsake.  The hue of colours used and the artwork was much appreciated by the Chief Minister and the Police Officials for its depiction of the brutal attack and the resilience exhibited by the armed forces, Mumbai Police, NSG, Mumbai Fire Brigade and the common man during the ordeal. 

Talking about the initiative Shriram Dandekar, Vice Chairman, Kokuyo Camlin said,” Kokuyo Camlin will be gifting the paintings created by the students of JJ School of Art as a tribute in the memory of 26/11/2008 to Mumbai Police, Mumbai Fire Brigade and the families of Late Vijay Salaskar, Late Tukaram Ombale and others. The paintings are the expression of artists showing the Courage, the Conviction, and the Determination of Mumbai Police”.

Also, commenting on this initiative Saumitra Prasad, Chief Marketing Officer, Kokuyo Camlin said,” Kokuyo Camlin believes in the philosophy of ‘Art for a cause’, and on this 10th anniversary of the tragic 26/11 terror attack, we pay a small tribute to the brave Mumbai Police and other martyrs for their act of courage expressed through these paintings by students of JJ School of Art”.

Continuing with the initiative, on November 27, around 30 police kids below the age of 12 have been invited for an art and craft competition which will be held at the Kokuyo Camlin Studio at KidZania, RCity Mall, Ghatkopar, where the children will spend a day of fun and learning. The event will focus on bringing joy to the children of the brave men who fight for the safety of the citizens every day. The day will culminate with a ceremony at the KidZania auditorium where the children will be awarded Kokuyo Camlin gift hampers along with an audio-visual presentation on the theme of 26/11.
