WOW Awards and Convention Asia
WOW Awards and Convention Asia 2018 marked the successful completion of a decade. The convention witnessed one of the largest gatherings of stalwarts from the experiential marketing and entertainment industries, with over a 100 Award categories, multiple workshops and Panel Discussions, and over 1200 delegates in attendance during the 3-day convention.
But the one element that held the entire show together were the Hosts and Emcees. Multiple artists put their best foot forward and ensured the entertainment factor did not dip, and the audience stayed glued to the knowledge-exchange, business meetings and celebrations, throughout. Here’s re-introducing those who donned the engagement hat to ensure the 3-day convention was a success!
Gitikka Ganju Dhar
She’s an artist that needs no introduction. Gitikka Ganju Dhar, awarded the WOW ‘LIVE Artist of the Decade’, was also the voice for the final Awards night during WOW Awards and Convention Asia 2018. She not just put a smile on faces by announcing the award winners but also participated in sessions and discussions, lending her expertise during the convention.
Talking about her experience at WOW 2018, Gitikka says, “WOW as a brand in the experiential zone has earned its stripes of glory. Attending WOW is wow. Exhibiting at WOW is wow. Being engaged as a talent at WOW is wow. Winning at WOW is wow!
I have had the good fortune of doing most of the above. This year I was engaged as the ‘Voice of WOW’. A voice over is an experience I always look forward to.
I did so for the final awards night of WOW Awards Asia and had a ball doing so! I also curated one of the highlights of WOW this year: the WOW Decade Studio, talks by stalwarts of the Indian experiential industry. I was also presented with an incredible honour, The WOW Live Artist of the Decade. WOW this year for me was WOW!!! I will always thank the brand and platform for the A-Class memories.”
This efficient Host proficiently alternated between playing host not just during day 1 of the WOW - Experiential Management Awards, but also kept the show going for the Opening Night Dinner of WOW. Adding fun and charm to the WOW LIVE Stage, he ensured the delegates were engaged and entertained through various touchpoints of the event.
Talking about his experience at WOW, Riaz Basha says, “WOW is a sunrise platform. I look forward to it each year to bask in heaps of energy from the event fraternity by way of networking.
We are constantly busy through the year with our work, but the 3 days of WOW Awards, is the perfect place to congregate and to connect with the stakeholders of the industry to further my prospects as an artist, for the year ahead. Besides, I love the time I spend during this period with team EVENTFAQS who are such positive people. One word for WOW Awards? WOW!
It was with great pride that Ash took to the Indian stage once again after a long hiatus, during WOW Awards 2018. The host for the final night, Ash was on-stage for the Experiential Marketing and Experiential Celebrations categories of Awards. He also provided some much-needed comic relief, keeping the smiles going during the awards.
Elaborating on his experience, Ash comments, “When you want something, it is best to go to the Source. The WOW Awards were truly the single largest collection of peers/ colleagues/ future clients and then some. Truly a joy to do a show for the entire industry which does shows for everyone else. Entertaining the entertainers and meeting so many wonderful professionals in my trade is an experience I am grateful for. The ultimate Catchment of Cool.”
Ritika Jhanji hosted the Live Quotient and Experiential Venues Awards, which were held on the first day of the convention. It was with much flair that she introduced her peers who proudly walked on stage to take the awards. At the experiential Venues awards, Asia’s top Wedding and MICE venues were recognized.
Speaking about her experience, she says, “Having spent more than a decade in the television industry, when I decided to diversify into events, it had to be with a very respected and credible platform. And WOW with its lineage of an immaculately crafted body of work was just the perfect platform to partner with. I thank WOW for the wonderful opportunity and wish them the best for future endeavours.”
The WOW LAB Sessions which explored discussions in Experiential Marketing, LIVE Events, MICE and Weddings, was hosted by Sanchalli Arora, on both days of WOW. Sanchalli also multi-tasked by playing host to Dubai’s Corporate Hosted Dinner, which was held in the evening of Day 1, as an extension to Dubai’s Platinum partnership to WOW Asia and EPEX 2018.
Talking about her experience, Sanchalli says, “WOW is not a new name in the experiential space. In fact, it’s just the opposite: highly recognised, well established, ever expanding and widely followed, both nationally and internationally. As an emcee who has been in the profession for over a decade, it couldn’t have been a better platform than this for B2B networking and promotion.
I thoroughly enjoyed being a host for both the WOW Labs and the exclusive Dubai dinner. The content at the WOW Labs was well curated, the panels comprised of renowned stakeholders from the industry and the overall knowledge sharing was extremely worthwhile. The stage elements for the Dubai Dinner, on the other hand, were appropriately crisp and precise, making the whole experience delightful -both as an anchor, as well as an attendee.
And of course, working together with the WOW team is something I always cherish.”
Raja played host at the EEMA Dialogues on both days of the event wherein he engaged with industry leads and kept the sessions running, ensuring there isn’t a lull and the discussions flow smoothly. EEMA Dialogues featured top EEMA membership in dialogue with key representatives of important stakeholder groups of the experiential industry.
Talking about his experience, Raja discusses, “WOW as a platform has become a synonym for recognition in the event and experiential industry. It has created a legacy over a decade and has not just maintained but grown exponentially year-after-year.
I attended WOW 7 years ago as a viewer, but as fate would have it, I was given the opportunity to not just be a part of the celebration but also host a section of this amazing gathering that everybody in our industry looks forward to and believe me when I say, I wouldn't have missed out on this opportunity for anything, because WOW not only brings together amazing people and individuals under one roof but this year was a landmark, A decade celebration of an occasion that everybody in the event and experiential industry looks forward to year-after-year.”
Bharat Jain hosted EPEX, the expo where MICE and Wedding Planners from Asia met one-on-one with over 55 Destinations and Venues across the globe. He was also the host for the Jumeirah Dinner hosted exclusively by Jumeirah Group as an extension of their sponsorship to WOW Asia and EPEX in 2018.
Talking about his experience, Bharat Jain elaborates, “Wow is the ultimate platform of the events industry where the entire ‘Global Experiential Industry’ comes together, and it is ‘THE’ platform to showcase who you are and what you are capable of! And being chosen to host one of the events at Wow, in itself was a wow opportunity. My sincere gratitude to EVENTFAQS for their faith in me, and look I forward to being on the mainstage in the time to come. Cheers to Wow!”
