Neev Raises Curtain On The Neev Literature Festival in Bangalore

Neev Academy has officially announced the 2nd edition of the ‘Neev Literature Festival’ for Children which will be a 3-day event held in September. With a mission to create readers for life, the 3-day event will be held in Neev Academy Campus, Bengaluru from September 27-29, 2018.

Developing a reading habit among children has never been more important to education than today where the only skill needed is the ability to learn and relearn and adapt to changing circumstances and careers.

NLF will host more than 65 celebrated international and Indian authors, filmmakers, illustrators, and librarians. Renowned authors will be part of the festival to meet and interact with the children.

The Neev Literature festival will house workshops and panel discussions for students, educators, librarians and parents, and a curated book exhibit of must-read titles.

This year the festival will be unveiling the Neev Book Awards, for distinguished children's literature to recognize outstanding writing that leads to a fuller understanding of India, Indian lives, and Indian stories.

W.B.Yeats said Education is the lighting of a fire, not the filling of a bucket.  Neev Academy brings the Neev literature festival to Bangalore, to create conversations between writers, readers and influencers, expose people to new stories and to light the fire of reading.

Ms Kavita Gupta Sabharwal, the Managing Trustee of Neev Academy, said, "The Neev Literature Festival (NLF) born in 2017, is conceived as a series of conversations between children, adults and authors. It aims to recognise great children’s literature, grow readers for life, and inspire reading for pleasure, knowledge and mastery. 

NLF this year is all set for September 27th, 28th, and 29th. This second edition of NLF also reinforces its mission by launching the Neev Children’s Book Awards to recognise, grow and create visibility for outstanding children’s literature that record stories of a changing India, her evolving voice, her changing characters, and issues her children relate to. The winners for this will be announced at the festival."

Famous Educator & Author Ms Maya Thiagarajan also commented on the Neev Book Awards saying, "The 1st annual NEEV Children’s Book Awards for distinguished children’s literature, underway with the 9-member international jury comprising of educators, librarians and writers for the last 7 months, will be announced on Sept 29 at the Neev children's litfest.  The Awards aim to recognise outstanding writing for children that leads to a fuller understanding of India, Indian lives, and Indian stories, for children from 2-18yrs."

"The NEEV shortlist includes a range of compelling stories that encourage young readers to think deeply not only about different issues that affect India but also about their own lives and experiences," says Ms Maya Thiagarajan.
