The client wanted all the functions to be thematic. Therefore for each function, the décor, food, performances and the dress code was according to the theme and there was uniformity in every aspect. For the guests to be dressed according to the theme as well, a special lookbook was made and shared with them.
Soulful Sufiyana Musical Night– June 27th, 2018, Taj Land End Mumbai
An evening of soulful Sufi began bringing in some classic culture without compromising on the fun, the Mulks and Farooqui’s hosted a soulful sufiyana evening on the June 27th, 2018, at Taj Lands End, Mumbai. The host of the day Nawab Shaji ul Mulk opened the event with an emotional welcome to all the global guests from USA, Europe, UK, Serbia, Sri Lanka and various parts of India. A significant and emotional moment for both the families was when they introduced each other and began a new journey of generations of a new relationship.
Traditionally decorated in white and gold, the contemporary Sufi style musical night also encompassed Sufi arches. Elaborate zardosi work, niches satin tassels, heavy drapes and Moroccan lamp accents were used to create an intensely emotive atmosphere. Low seating on takhats, attar and gajras created a tranquil and soothing atmosphere with an unforgettable experience.
The dance of the dervishes who were especially invited for the royal wedding of Adnan ul Mulk and Nida Farooqui's were not an ordinary one. As they whirled and twirled in rhythm, the guests saw them slide into a meditative mode connecting with the divine.
While men were expected to wear white churidar kurta, women were dressed in their pastel best.
The evening which was hosted by Dia Mirza saw galaxy of stars decent to rock the sufiyana night with their performances. Kanika Kapoor performed on some of her hit tracks - Baby Doll, Chittiyan Kalaiyan, Yaar na miley, Kaala chashma and many more. Suryaveer Hooja set the mood for the night with his performance Dil Diyaan Gallan, Nit Khair Manga, Yaar Teri Yaari and many more. Sumit Sethi with dholwaalas interacted with the audiences.
Taking taste beyond a sole state, food counters at the weddings was crammed with various cuisines. Guests were enticed with the dishes – Lucknowi Seekh Kabab, Makai Ka Shorba, Nalli Nihari, Subz Navrattan Korma and many more. However, the most dominant ones among all the lavish spread were the deserts- Khajur Pete Ka Halwa, Sewaiyan Kheer, Angoori Rabdi and others.
Haldi Ki Rasam– June, 28th 2018, Taj Lands End Mumbai
Radiant smiles, liberating joy of love and everyone in yellow! Adnan ul Mulk and Nida Farooqui's haldi (turmeric) function was a riot of colour, fun and happiness.
Although the Mulks and Farooquis love sophisticated, royal and elegant wedding colour schemes they adore colours too.
Haldi ki Rasam of the couple added bright colours of yellows and oranges and patterns to create an impressive visual impact.
The function saw a wonderful play of coordinates in white, yellow and floral yellow consisting of kurtas, classic gowns with vintage prints.
The families boasted their rich heritage and diversity through colourful variety of food items. All the dishes were clad with tadkas and blended with spices, oils, and textures which were admired by all.
DJ Stetson set the tone, making all guest dance to his tunes.
Mehendi Musical Night – June, 28th 2018, Taj Lands End Mumbai
Royalty, Elegance and Grandeur, this mehendi function had everything. The Mughals have quite impressed the Mulks and Farooquis with their grandeur and their royal balance of beauty and glamour.
Even though the Mughal theme is regarded traditional and beautiful all by itself, the mehendi musical night of the beautiful couple on June 28th, 2018 at Taj Lands End, Mumbai added a twist to it by modernising a tad bit.
The function gave the guests who came from all across the world, an insight into the legacy of Mulks. The groom was brought in with a royal procession of dancers.
Reminiscing about the Mughal era and bringing the glory of the period alive, the pathway to the entrance of the venue was lit on both side and further decorated flowers. The complete venue was transformed right from the entrance into a Royal Mughal Palace with well-dressed darbans with huge fans to welcome the guests.
When the guest arrived, the welcome girls attired in lady Mughal costumes offered the Gajara (flower strings) tying on the wrist of guest and other girls showered the rose petals thereby traditionally welcoming the guests in Mughlai style. A Red, Maroon and Gold colour palette was used and looked perfect keeping in mind the theme and nature of the event.
Heavy jewellery like - Maang Tikkas, Mathapatti, Payal were gifted to them as a gratitude by the bride and groom's family. While the ladies had fun every single minute being the Mastanis, men too kept the Mughal fashion theme high with their breathtaking attires.
Dia Mirza not only hosted the evening but also performed to the tunes of Pyaar Kiya Toh Darna Kya,Dil Cheez Kya Hai, and Salaam-E-Ishq Meri Jaan. A beautiful Kishti performance was organised in Nida Farooqui's honour by Urvashi Rautela on Deewani Mastaani, Tum jo aaye, Nagada Sang Dhol, and Ghoomar. The evening also saw performances by Rohin Puri, Myraa Sareen.
Mughlai dishes were displayed on the buffet, which was draped with satin and duly lit up from behind to match the ambiance so created. The choice of food brought the real taste of India to the wonderful and food-loving people from all across the world. Their ‘fit-for-kings’ menu included quite a few dishes that don't regularly grace wedding banquets in India.
Nikah – June 29th, 2018, JVPD Grounds
An excellent way to taste the ancient Indian richness and heritage was the Nikah of Nawab Of Kurnool Adnan ul Mulk and Nida Farooqui.
The pomp, glory, and opulence of bygone periods were brought to life as Adnan ul Mulk and Nida Farooqui exchanged vows bejewelled like a Prince and Princess in a royal backdrop amongst the display of many royal luxuries, traditions, and processions.
The venue of a Royal Nikah was of course elegance exemplified. A palace ambience was recreated, right from the well-wrought entrance, chandeliers, columns, and draperies. An elegantly bejewelled stage with carved golden pillars decorated with rich fabric drapes and exotic flowers was built. Grand lightning, floral decorations, red carpet all added to the grandeur.
Women set the colour wheels in motion with glamorous designer sarees and men opted for classic sherwanis boosting the rich royal fashion of India.
Walima Ceremony – June 30th, 2018, Taj Lands End Mumbai
Enchanted by the beauty of the four seasons, Adnan ul Mulk and Nida Farooqui decided to have a Walima ceremony crowned by the presence of not one, not two, but all the majestic four seasons.
The decor of Walima was whimsical and enchanting; beautiful and elegant; stylish and delicate; sophisticated and exquisite. The synergy of great lighting, modern and classy arrangements created an ideal background for the stage. A milieu of drapery combined with dazzling hanging gems and chandeliers created a romantic and filmy setting.
High impact yet timeless treasures in contemporary styles, women dazzled in reds and glamorous gowns and men rocked the night in black & white tuxedo.
The evening which was hosted by Kubra Seth saw a galaxy of stars decent to rock the night with their performances. Nora Fatehi performed on Swag Se Swaagat, Chalti Hai Kya, Lets Nacho, and Kaala Chashma and Jonita Gandhi performed on Medley of songs such as Maiyya Maiyya, Tumhi ho Bandhu, Sooraj Dooba Hai, Lat Lag Gayi, Subha Hone Na De, London Thumakda, Dilli Waali Girlfriend and many more. Udita Goswami and DJ Stetson set the tone for the evening.
