EVENTFAQS had an exclusive interview with Guru Randhawa where he speaks about the advantages of being a live artist and also tell us about his future plans.
Taking us through your experience, how do you think the live event industry had shaped up through the years?
I think the pattern of performances in live shows are the same as they used to be before. In terms of performance, there is not much difference as the artist merely presents LIVE songs which have been heard by the audience on digital formats, so I think with that perspective nothing's changed. Though now the scale of production, sound and other things is managed on a bigger level and in a professional way. There are different teams which handle every aspect of a live show. So all of that is new and is developing with time.

Can you tell us some advantages of performing live?
Performing live has many advantages to it. An artist's live performance helps increase his viewership and it reaches to the masses. Talking about the audience, they too turn up in huge numbers. Live events are the best way for an artist to get in touch with their listeners. A person can buy our CD or can listen to our songs by any medium, but when they turn up to a live concert and see their favourite artist perform they instantly connect better with them which is a plus point for that artist as it helps to increase his audience. I admire all the love that people have given me.

What kind of challenges do live artists face in today's time?
According to me, I don't think so any artist who performs in front of his well-wishers can ever face any challenge. As the audience is coming in just to see their favourite artist perform, they buy tickets and stand amidst a crowd just to listen to the songs. All of this feeling is overwhelming, which adds up to the performance. So yeah there is no challenge in performing live it's just the love which the audience showers make it a fun experience. Rest is all about following your dream, I think everyone should follow their dreams. It will automatically give you the spirit to overcome any challenges. Make your parents feel proud of you.

Made In India has launched recently and the feel of this song is not different from my previous songs. This time though we have worked on the lyrics and the music which makes it a stand out song.
About your future plans any interesting songs coming up?
I am going to do a lot of Bollywood songs which everyone soon will get to know, with that I will also be coming up with my singles. So yes a lot of songs are lined up for this year.

Speaking about Guru Randhawa and Bollyboom is Manuj Agarwal, CEO, Percept Live "Percept live as been into live music IPs, with Sunburn being our dance IP for international music. Bollyboom is focusing on Bollywood dance music, with an attempt to create an experience where the youngsters can groove on the tunes of Bollywood artist. Which is a prior to time shift to how Bollywood concerts have been. Bollyboom has been a huge challenge for us, but it's been our first attempt and we have finished with a huge response. We have got Guru Randhawa, we wouldn't have asked for a better artist who can translate what Bollywood dance music is with playback singing. He really fit the bill, We are doing a 9 city tour in India, then we are planning to take Bollyboom to Singapore and Malaysia. We really found a perfect match in Guru as far our IP was concerned. We have got a great response from fans and sponsors, it's been a great experience so far."
