Horizon W.I.E. The Leela Kovalam
The couple was from the United States, and the family approached Horizon with a very simple brief, "We want a beach wedding, as good as the Mauritian wedding you had planned earlier for us, but this one should be in India". The Leela Kovalam was the best-suited venue according to them.
They left the décor selection and theme to the Horizon team. So Jenny Mirchandani from the Horizon WIE built the theme around "celebrations across India" wherein the guests from different parts of the world could experience the classical South Indian welcome which was followed by a desi Holi party, a crazy Punjabi night and a pretty beachside sunset wedding with magnificent fireworks in the end.
The guests were welcomed by Kathakali dancers followed by a classical South Indian sit down lunch served on banana leaves without any cutlery. Eating with bare hands instead of the standard buffet system left the guests in awe.
As the wedding was around the time of Holi, the Horizon team didn’t want the guests to miss the fun. “We decided to incorporate the fun vibes of Holi to the wedding celebrations to make it an extravagant carnival”, says Jenifer Mirchandani, Co-founder, Horizon WIE.
The design for the phera mandap was based on the four great elements of nature i.e. air, water, fire, and land. The shloka suspensions on the mandap added more to the traditional feel and a surreal union.
The grand wedding had every bit of flavour and fun from all the states of India!
